Mithali Raj, one of the best female cricketers of all time, announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket on Wednesday, after an illustrious career that spanned more than two decades. She made her international debut at the age of 16 in 1999 and last represented India in the ICC Women’s World Cup in March 2022 in New Zealand.

Raj announced the news on social media, writing that the last 23 years had been the most satisfying, difficult, and enjoyable of her life. The statement said, “Today is the day I resign from all forms of international cricket.” She commented that this is the appropriate time to step aside because she is leaving Indian cricket in capable hands, and she thanked the BCCI and Secretary Jay Shah for all of their support, both as a player and as the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team.
