Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research And Management (IITRAM)

UDGAM 2026, the flagship Industry–Academia Conclave of IITRAM, Ahmedabad, was successfully conducted on 27th and 28th February 2026, transforming the campus into a dynamic hub of ideas, innovation, and industry dialogue. IITRAM (Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management), known for its strong industry-oriented academic framework, curated UDGAM as a high-impact platform to bridge classroom learning with real-world execution. The event, organised by the Career Development Centre (CDC) and supported by the Industrial Extension Bureau (INDEXTb) and Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL), reflected a powerful convergence of academia, government, and industry.

IITRAM is one of Gujarat’s young but fast-growing engineering universities. The Government of Gujarat established it with the aim of preparing students for the future of infrastructure, technology, and management. Unlike many traditional engineering colleges, IITRAM focuses strongly on real-life industry exposure. The institute often invites industry leaders, engineers, and technology experts to share their experience with students. Events like UDGAM are part of this effort. They help students understand how their classroom knowledge can be used in real companies, industries, and projects.

The Career Development Centre (CDC) of IITRAM plays a key role in preparing students for careers. The centre regularly organises workshops, training programmes, and industry interactions. These programmes help students learn practical skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. CDC also works closely with companies to help students get internships and placements. This makes students more confident when they enter the job market.

The support from organisations like Industrial Extension Bureau (INDEXTb) and Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL) also shows the state government’s interest in strengthening industry–academia partnerships. INDEXTb is an important agency that promotes industrial growth in Gujarat. It helps investors, entrepreneurs, and companies set up projects in the state. Gujarat Informatics Limited works on digital infrastructure and e-governance projects for the government. Their involvement in UDGAM highlights how technology, governance, and education can work together to build a stronger innovation ecosystem.

The two-day conclave witnessed strong engagement from leading organisations, including eInfochips, Deepak Group, IBM, Wonder Cement, Tata Consultancy Services, and Kalpataru Projects International Limited, with keynote sessions and panel discussions sparking insightful conversations on digital transformation, manufacturing excellence, infrastructure growth, and future-ready talent.

Such participation from major companies is important for students. It allows them to hear directly from professionals who are shaping modern industries. Companies like IBM and Tata Consultancy Services are global technology leaders working in areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services. When experts from such companies speak to students, they often discuss how technology is changing the way businesses operate across the world.

Manufacturing and infrastructure were also key themes at the conclave. Companies like Wonder Cement and Kalpataru Projects International Limited play a major role in building India’s roads, buildings, and energy systems. Infrastructure development is critical for a growing economy like India. Roads, bridges, power plants, and digital networks all depend on skilled engineers and planners. Events like UDGAM help students understand the scale and importance of such projects.

Digital transformation was another major topic discussed during the sessions. Across industries, companies are adopting digital tools, automation, and data systems to improve efficiency. For engineering students, this means learning not only traditional engineering but also new skills such as data analysis, coding, and digital design. Industry experts often encourage students to remain flexible and keep learning new technologies as industries evolve.

A major highlight, “Pitch Your Idea,” electrified the audience as student teams confidently presented bold, solution-driven concepts before an expert jury, with winning teams securing significant rewards and valuable mentorship support.

Idea pitching competitions are becoming common in universities across India. These platforms encourage students to think like innovators and entrepreneurs. In such competitions, students present solutions to real-world problems. These ideas may involve new technologies, smart infrastructure solutions, or sustainable development concepts. The aim is to help students move beyond theory and develop practical innovations.

Mentorship support given to winning teams is often as valuable as the prizes. Experienced industry mentors guide students on how to improve their ideas, build prototypes, and sometimes even convert their projects into start-ups. Many successful start-ups around the world began as student ideas during college competitions. Such initiatives encourage students to take risks, think creatively, and solve real challenges.

With around 150 students participating from nearly 10 institutes across Ahmedabad, UDGAM 2026 concluded as an energetic, industry-connected, and opportunity-driven conclave that truly delivered impact beyond the stage.

Participation from multiple institutes also helps build a wider academic network. When students from different colleges interact, they exchange ideas and learn from each other’s projects and experiences. This kind of collaboration can lead to future partnerships in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Ahmedabad has slowly become an important centre for education, technology, and industry in Gujarat. With institutions like IITRAM promoting strong industry connections, students in the city are gaining better exposure to real-world challenges. Events like UDGAM show how universities can act as meeting points where industry leaders, government bodies, and young innovators come together to discuss the future.

By creating such platforms, IITRAM is helping shape a new generation of engineers and professionals who are ready to contribute to India’s technological and industrial growth.
