Vadinar LPG Shipment highlights advanced maritime logistics in Jamnagar

India, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, continues to ensure uninterrupted energy security and supply chain resilience even amidst global energy challenges. With robust infrastructure, efficient port management, and rapid logistics systems, India is steadily emerging as a reliable partner in the global energy supply chain.

In line with this progress, a significant development has been marked with the successful arrival of the mother vessel MT Nanda Devi at the anchorage near Vadinar (Jamnagar), carrying 46,500 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer operation is set to commence, wherein the cargo will be transferred to the vessel MT BW Birch.

Modern maritime operations such as Ship-to-Ship transfers, are critical for enabling the safe and efficient transfer of energy cargo between large vessels. This process helps reduce port congestion, saves time and cost, and enhances overall supply chain efficiency.

This operation, managed by Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), reflects the advanced capabilities of Indian ports, high standards of safety, and adherence to global operational benchmarks. It further strengthens India’s position as a dependable and efficient hub in the global energy sector.

On this occasion, Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority, visited the mother vessel, MT Nanda Devi. He interacted with the captain and crew and reviewed the preparedness, safety measures, and operational readiness of the STS transfer. His presence provided encouragement and strategic guidance to the entire team.

Such operations are a testament to the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, PM Gati Shakti, and the development of a strong logistics network. The consistent performance of Indian ports in executing such operations is propelling the nation toward enhanced energy security, economic growth, and global recognition.

“India is no longer just a consumer of energy — it is emerging as a strong and reliable pillar of the global energy supply chain.”
