Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences 2025 Drive Growth in Porbandar
Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences 2025 promote sustainable regional growth
A District-Level Programme under the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences 2025 was successfully held in Porbandar. The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, served as the Implementing Partner for the Seminars on Food Conclave, Blue Economy, Biotech & Agri-Processing Startup showcasing. Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences 2025 are being organised across the State to promote regional industrial development, investments in various domains for sustainable, long-term growth across the sectors.
The Vibrant Gujarat initiative, which began over two decades ago, has become one of India’s most recognised platforms for investment promotion. While the Global Summit attracts large international investors, the regional conferences focus on district-specific strengths. In coastal districts like Porbandar, sectors such as fisheries, food processing, marine-based industries and logistics naturally take centre stage. By bringing these discussions closer to local entrepreneurs and youth, the government aims to ensure that development is not limited to major cities alone.
The Foodpreneur Conclave were virtually graced by Chief Guest, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of Labour & Employment, Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Also present on the occasion were: Shri Arjun Modhwadia, Hon’ble Minister, Forests and Environment, Climate Change, Science and Technology, Govt. of Gujarat; and Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII.
Dr Mandaviya’s presence added national importance to the programme. As a senior leader from Gujarat, he has often spoken about linking local skills with national growth goals. His involvement also highlighted how food processing, employment generation and youth development are closely connected. Similarly, Shri Arjun Modhwadia’s portfolio reflects Gujarat’s push towards balancing industrial growth with environmental responsibility, which is becoming increasingly important as industries expand.
The programme, which took place at Tajawala Hall, Porbandar, brought together policymakers, government officials, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, startups, farmers, artisans and youth.
Such a mix of participants is critical for meaningful outcomes. Policymakers get direct feedback from people working on the ground, while small business owners and farmers gain clarity on schemes, policies and market opportunities. For young participants, these platforms offer exposure to real-world business ideas and success stories, which can be more inspiring than classroom learning.
The programme also coincides with the exhibitions of MSMEs, startups, Handicrafts, crafts with Swadeshi Mahotsav – 2025 (Vocal for Local), which featured Food & Agri Stalls, art & craft providing additional market exposure, B2B linkage and networking opportunities to local businesses.
Exhibitions like Swadeshi Mahotsav play an important role in strengthening local economies. They help small producers showcase their products directly to buyers, government officials and larger companies. For artisans and food producers, this kind of exposure can lead to bulk orders, better pricing and long-term partnerships. The ‘Vocal for Local’ theme also supports India’s wider push to reduce dependence on imports by strengthening domestic production.
The event commenced with the welcome address of Shri S. D. Dhanani, Collector & DM, Porbandar District. Shri Dhanani said, “Every sector and region has its own competitive edges, and these focused regional conferences and conclaves under the Vibrant Gujarat will help in boosting the regional prospects and advantages. I am happy that these important events are being organised in Porbandar in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries. I am sure the presence of noted stalwarts will further sharpen the outcomes.” Shri Dhanani concluded with an elaborate welcome to the guests.
District collectors play a key role in turning policy into action. Their understanding of local needs, land availability, infrastructure and workforce helps investors make faster decisions. By highlighting Porbandar’s unique strengths, the administration aims to attract industries that suit the district’s social and economic fabric.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said, “After the success of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the state government is organising District-level programmes under the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summits 2025. These programmes play an important role in extending the reach and grassroots impact across the state. These regional summits aim to accelerate regional industrial development, promote investment opportunities in various sectors and strengthen global connectivity. These summits are not just a platform to showcase regional achievements, but also to contribute to the growth of the state and the nation by empowering different sectors of the state.”
His remarks underlined the idea that development must reach the grassroots. District-level programmes help bridge the gap between policy announcements and real impact. They also allow smaller towns to connect with global value chains, especially in sectors like food processing and biotechnology, where quality local products can find international markets.
Shri Arjun Modwadia, in his address, said: “Gujarat stands for strong infrastructure, reliable logistics and an industry-friendly environment. The state’s long coastline, ports, industrial clusters and fast connectivity have made Gujarat a natural choice for investors. The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summits showcase all these strengths at the regional level and encourage new partnerships. Today’s Regional Summit is not just an event, but an important step towards realising the vision of ‘Vikasit Bharat @2047’. This summit is committed to identifying local potential and advancing it with policy, investment and partnership.”
Gujarat’s coastline has long supported trade, and districts like Porbandar benefit from port-led development. By aligning local strengths with national goals such as Vikasit Bharat @2047, the state aims to ensure steady growth over the next two decades.
Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, said, “The Institute’s work has always gone beyond conferences and policy papers. Over the decades, EDII has been closely involved in building enterprises on the ground — shaping programmes, mentoring first-generation entrepreneurs and working alongside the government. He recalled that between 2003 and 2014, EDII functioned as the national nodal agency for the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, during which it supported the creation of more than 5,641 enterprises across 22 states through structured entrepreneurship development programmes.”
EDII’s long experience gives credibility to such programmes. Its focus on first-generation entrepreneurs is significant in semi-urban and rural areas, where access to guidance and training can change lives. The Porbandar programme reflected this approach, aiming not just to discuss ideas, but to help turn them into sustainable businesses that support jobs, income and local growth.
