Virat Kohli, India’s Test captain, has cleared the air on a reported disagreement with Rohit Sharma, India’s recently appointed ODI captain. Kohli also denied allegations that he and the BCCI had communicated, claiming that he was contacted one and a half hours before the selection meeting.

“Everything claimed regarding the communication that took place during the decision-making process was false. I was approached one and a half hours before the Test Series selection meeting on the 8th “remarked Kohli

Kohli also denied a claim made by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly that there was no communication between him and the board after he declared his decision to step down as T20I captain.

Kohli answered with the following statement: “Since I announced the T20I leadership decision on December 8, there has been no previous discussion with me. The head selector and I talked about the Test team, and we both agreed on it. Before we hung up, I was told that the five selectors had decided that I would not be informed that I would not be selected as the ODI captain. ‘All right, fine,’ I said.”

“And then in the selection call after that, we briefly discussed it, and that’s what happened; there was no contact before to that,” he added.

Before leaving for the South Africa tour, the Indian Test skipper gave a virtual press conference in Mumbai.

After an alleged split with India’s newly designated ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, there were allegations that Virat Kohli requested to miss the ODI series. He shot down the rumors by confirming his participation in the ODI series against South Africa.
