The first international conference on digital mental health and wellbeing was successfully held at Rashtriya Raksha University.
Through its School of Behavioural Sciences & Forensic Investigations (SBSFI), Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, successfully arranged the 1st International Digital Mental Health & Wellbeing Conference, a one-day online CRE programme with the crucial theme of “Social Media and Adolescents’ Mental Health.”
More than 500 professionals, academics, and practitioners from 31 states and union territories in India, Canada, China, the United States, and Nepal actively participated in the conference. This confluence reinforced RRU’s expanding worldwide reach and dedication to using academic brilliance and teamwork to address urgent modern issues.
The event underscored the importance of treating digital mental health as a public health imperative and societal obligation, in addition to a clinical concern, given the considerable impact that virtual environments have on adolescents’ identity, relationships, and emotional well-being in the digital age.
Leading authorities in the field of mental health, such as Dr. Yatan Pal Singh Balhara, Professor of Psychiatry, NDDTC & Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS, New Delhi; Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor of Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS, Bangalore; Dr. Nitin Anand, Additional Professor of Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS, Bangalore; and Dr. Suraj Shakya, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology, Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, enhanced the program with thought-provoking sessions.
These eminent speakers provided in-depth analyses of the effects of social media on teenage wellbeing, the likelihood and seriousness of digital addiction, and research-based tactics for promoting and preventing mental health issues online.
The conference, spearheaded by the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel demonstrated RRU’s proactive dedication to fostering resilient societies and including mental health into national security education. In order to guarantee that teenagers thrive both emotionally and technologically, the event ended with a collective call to embrace team-based, evidence-based, and SDG-aligned solutions.
This program is in line with RRU’s long-term goal of becoming a world-renowned hub for strategic education, national resilience, and behavioural sciences. The institution is still committed to planning academic and capacity-building initiatives that have a significant impact and promote inclusive wellbeing, policy research, and innovation.
