Blue Star AC 2026 sparks massive demand in India
Blue Star AC 2026 sets a new standard with powerful smart cooling
Blue Star Limited has announced a wide new range of room air conditioners for Summer 2026, marking a strong push to grow its presence in both home and business cooling markets. The company has introduced 125 models, including a premium line designed for modern buyers. This move comes at a time when India’s cooling demand is rising fast, and industry experts say this growth is not a short-term trend.
Blue Star Limited has been present in India since 1942, marking 82 years of service to the nation. The company operates seven manufacturing units across the country, including one in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The Ahmedabad unit produces around one lakh deep freezers every year, showing the strong manufacturing capacity of Blue Star.
Another manufacturing unit is located in Himachal Pradesh, with the capacity to produce nearly six lakh air conditioners annually.
During the conversation, a Blue Star official, Mr. Mohit Sud, shared that the company spends around ₹70 crore each year on research and development. However, despite this investment, about 30% to 35% of components still need to be imported. While nearly 60% of components are made in India, a significant portion still depends on imports.
He also mentioned that due to the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East, air conditioner prices are expected to rise by around 6% to 8% this year. Despite the government reducing GST last year, prices are still likely to increase this summer.

Recent reports from energy and housing studies show that only a small share of Indian homes currently have air conditioners. This leaves a huge gap for future growth. With rising incomes and hotter summers, more families are now looking to buy their first AC. Experts believe the market could double in the next few years, especially in smaller towns. In cities like Ahmedabad, Nagpur, and Lucknow, local retailers have reported strong sales growth in entry-level ACs over the past two summers.
All the new models launched by Blue Star meet the updated rules set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, which took effect in January 2026. These rules push brands to make more energy-saving products. Studies from Indian power agencies show that air conditioners already use a large share of household electricity in urban homes. So, more efficient models can help reduce both power bills and grid pressure.
The company’s new range includes inverters, fixed-speed, and window ACs. Among these, the ‘Iconia’ premium series stands out with a stylish design aimed at high-end buyers. Market trends from consumer surveys suggest that looks and design now play a bigger role in buying decisions, especially among younger buyers in metro cities.
Blue Star has also launched special categories such as super energy-efficient models, heavy-duty ACs, and hot-and-cold systems. Industry data shows that energy-efficient ACs are becoming more popular because they cut long-term costs. For example, a five-star rated AC can save up to 25 to 30 per cent electricity compared to a lower-rated model over a year. The company claims even higher savings with its latest technology, which could attract buyers who are worried about rising electricity prices.
Heavy-duty ACs that can work in temperatures as high as 56°C are also important. Weather reports over the past few years have shown that heatwaves are becoming more common across India. Cities like Delhi and Jaipur have already crossed 48°C in peak summer. This makes high-performance cooling a key need, not just a luxury.
The hot-and-cold AC models are built for use in both summer and winter. This is useful in regions like North India, where winters can be very cold. Reports from hill regions such as Srinagar show growing demand for such dual-purpose systems, as they reduce the need for separate heating devices.
Another important feature in the new range is the anti-virus technology. After the Covid-19 pandemic, many buyers have become more aware of indoor air quality. Health studies have shown that poor indoor air can affect breathing and sleep. Air conditioners with filters and purification modes are now seen as a safer option, especially for families with children and elderly members.
Nearly 50 models in the new lineup come with smart WiFi features. This matches a growing trend where people want to control home appliances through mobile apps or voice assistants. Smart home reports suggest that India’s connected device market is growing by over 20 per cent each year. Features like sleep modes and energy tracking also help users manage comfort and costs better.
To support this growth, Blue Star has expanded its manufacturing capacity. The company operates plants in Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, using modern automation and digital systems. Experts say that local manufacturing helps reduce costs and speeds up delivery, which is important in a fast-growing market.
The company is also focusing on eco-friendly cooling. Global climate reports stress the need to reduce harmful gases used in cooling systems. Many brands, including Blue Star, are now shifting towards greener refrigerants and better energy systems. This move aligns with India’s climate goals and international commitments.
Blue Star’s reach has grown across more than 900 towns, with over 10,000 retail outlets. Strong service support is another key factor. Customer surveys often show that after-sales service plays a big role in brand trust. A wide service network helps companies keep customers satisfied over the long term.
Alongside room ACs, Blue Star continues to expand its commercial refrigeration range. This includes products for sectors like food, healthcare, and retail. The growth of quick commerce, online grocery delivery, and modern food chains has increased the need for reliable cooling systems. Reports from retail and food industry bodies show strong demand for cold storage and refrigeration units.
Looking ahead, experts agree that India’s cooling market is entering a major growth phase. With nearly 150 million households expected to afford ACs in the coming years, companies that invest in technology, efficiency, and reach are likely to benefit the most. Blue Star’s latest launch shows it is preparing early for this next wave of demand.
