“‘Disrespect to Ambedkar’: Congress Slams Amit Shah’s Controversial Speech”

Congress wants an apology from Amit Shah for allegedly disrespecting Ambedkar in a speech in Parliament.
In his speech to the Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah blasted the Congress party, claiming that adopting Ambedkar’s name had become “fashionable.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was attacked by the Congress on Tuesday for his comments about BR Ambedkar in Parliament and was called upon to issue an apology.

“It has become a ‘fashion’ for the Congress party to use Ambedkar’s name,” Shah remarked in his speech to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, the last day of a two-day debate on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution.

“Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar!” “Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai.” “It has become fashionable to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar,” as in the phrase “Bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata.” Shah made a jab at the opposition by saying, “They would have earned a spot in heaven if they had invoked God’s name so frequently.”

Although the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is pleased that the Congress is using Ambedkar’s name, the home minister stated that the party should also express its true feelings for him.

Shah was criticised for the comments by a number of Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, and Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Gandhi stated that anyone who adhere to Manusmriti will undoubtedly disagree with Ambedkar in a post on X.

According to Kharge, the home minister’s “insult” of Babasaheb Ambedkar “has once again proven that the BJP-RSS were against the tricolour, that their forefathers opposed the Ashok Chakra, and that the people of the Sangh Parivar wanted to implement Manusmriti instead of the Constitution of India from the very beginning.”

“There is so much hatred towards Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar Ji because he did not allow this to happen,” Kharge wrote in a post on X. “Babasaheb Ambedkar is and will always be the messiah of Dalits, tribals, backward classes, minorities, and the poor. For crores of people like me, he is no less than God.” This is something that the Modi government’s ministers should carefully comprehend.

Jairam Ramesh, a Congress MP, called Shah’s comments “very disgusting” and claimed they demonstrated the BJP-RSS’s animosity against Ambedkar.

“They hate him so much that his name irritates them. According to the Congress leader, these are the same individuals whose forefathers burned Baba Saheb’s effigies and who once discussed amending the Constitution that Baba Saheb had given them.

“They are now irritated with those who take Baba Saheb’s name because the people taught them a lesson,” he stated. “A disgrace! Ramesh claimed that Amit Shah need to apologise to the nation for this.

K C Venugopal, the general secretary in charge of the Congress, too criticised Shah for his comments.

In case you were unaware, Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is the divine equivalent of HM Amit Shah, and the Constitution he draughted is considered a sacred text by millions of people worldwide. How dare you talk so disrespectfully about Dr. Ambedkar?” On X, he wrote.

“The BJP’s disgust towards Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was always well known, and the Home Minister’s pathetic statements in the Rajya Sabha today further confirm how much they hate and detest Dr. Ambedkar,” Venugopal stated.

“Ambedkar, who rejected the terrible ideas propagated by the casteist RSS and their Manusmriti, will always be derided by the worshippers of Manusmriti,” he continued.
