DPS Bopal Student Mouboni Chatterjee Wins Gujarat Table Tennis
Mouboni Chatterjee Wins Two Age-Group Titles at Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament
Delhi Public School-Bopal Class XI student Mouboni Chatterjee won the Under-17 and Under-19 girls’ titles at the 6th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2026 in Bhavnagar, adding another strong result to her record in Gujarat’s competitive junior table tennis circuit.
The tournament was held from September 24 to 27, 2026. Chatterjee also finished runner-up in the women’s category, giving her three podium finishes during the four-day competition.
Her results were:
- Under-17: Champion
- Under-19: Champion
- Women’s category: Runner-up
The result is the latest in a series of strong performances by Chatterjee in state-level competitions. Records published by Delhi Public School-Bopal show that she has been competing successfully in Gujarat tournaments since her school years. In 2024, she won the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 titles at the 4th Gujarat State Ranking Tournament in Vadodara.
That earlier performance came when Mouboni Chatterjee was 14. She defeated Nidhi Prajapati in the Under-17 final and beat Bhavnagar’s Riya Jayswal in the Under-19 final. She also won the Under-15 final against Charmy Trivedi. The women’s title that year went to another player, leaving Chatterjee with three age-group crowns.
Her record also shows that Mouboni Chatterjee has regularly faced the same group of leading young players from across Gujarat. At the 5th Gujarat State Ranking Tournament in Surat earlier in September 2026, Chatterjee reached the women’s semi-finals after beating Siddhi Patel 3-0 in the quarter-final. She entered that event as the fourth seed in the women’s draw.
Mouboni Chatterjee eventually lost the women’s final in Surat to Filzahfatema Kadri, who won 4-1. The Surat tournament also featured players such as Pratha Pawar, Riya Jayswal, Aafrien Murad and Daniya Godil, showing the depth of competition among Gujarat’s leading women and junior players.
The state ranking series is organised within the structure of Gujarat’s table tennis administration. The Gujarat State Table Tennis Association, or GSTTA, was established in 1962 and is affiliated with the Table Tennis Federation of India. The association says its role includes developing and promoting table tennis in Gujarat. The national federation maintains rankings across several age groups, including Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13 and Under-11 categories.
This structure gives junior players regular competition as they move through different age groups. For a player like Chatterjee, success in more than one category also means competing against athletes at different stages of junior development.
Her school has followed her progress over several seasons. Delhi Public School-Bopal’s records list Chatterjee’s performances at state and inter-district tournaments in 2023 and 2024. In the 2023 Gujarat State and Inter District Table Tennis Tournament in Ahmedabad, she finished first in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories and third in Under-19.
In 2024, she again reached the top level in several age groups. At the Gujarat State and Inter District Table Tennis Tournament in Gandhidham that September, she was runner-up in Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19. Earlier that year, she had won the Under-19 title and finished runner-up in Under-15 at a tournament in Surat.
The progression continued in 2025. At the Gujarat State Table Tennis Tournament in Vadodara, Chatterjee finished runner-up in Under-17 and took third place in the women’s category, according to her school’s sports record. Mouboni Chatterjee was also listed among the leading women’s players at the 5th Gujarat State Ranking Tournament in 2025.
The latest Bhavnagar result therefore adds another chapter to a record that now spans several age groups and multiple state tournaments. Winning both the Under-17 and Under-19 titles in the same competition is particularly notable because the Under-19 field includes older junior players, while the women’s event brings together competitors from the open category.
For DPS-Bopal, Chatterjee’s performance also adds to the school’s table tennis record. The school has produced players who have competed at district, state and national-level events, with its official sports records documenting several table tennis results over recent years.
For Mouboni Chatterjee, the next stage will bring stronger competition as she continues to move through the junior ranks and the women’s category. Her latest double title in Bhavnagar shows that she remains a leading name in Gujarat’s young women’s table tennis field.
