India vs England 4th Test: Young Sudharsan Steps Up as Pant Faces Injury Scare.

India vs England 4th Test Day 1: Sudharsan excels while Rishabh Pant’s injury puts IND in a difficult position.
On day one of the fourth Test, India reached 264 for four at stumps by playing in the old-fashioned manner, and Rishabh Pant sustained yet another injury.

He was going great guns, smashing English bowlers as he usually does, but while going for reverse sweep, he missed the ball, and it hit his right little finger. He was limping because his foot was swollen.

The injury looks a bit serious, and Pant was carried off the ground, retired hurt.

India scored 264/4 at stumps, with Shardul Thakur (19 batting off 36) and Ravindra Jadeja (19 batting off 37) holding firm in the waning light.

England captain Ben Stokes again won the toss, fourth time in a row and looking at the pitch and cloudy conditions, he elected to bowl first.

To provide the groundwork for India, Yashasvi Jaiswal put up a great effort against his style of batting and scored 58 runs off 107 balls. He played in this style because he played a very poor shot at Lords and got out very cheaply. So it was on the cards that in this match he is going to play sensibly, and he did. This is a sign of a great player; you always learn from your mistakes and try not to repeat.

Indian openers KL Rahul (46 off 98 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58 off 107) put up 94 runs for their biggest partnership of the series when they were put in to bat in cloudy conditions.

In his comeback game, Sai Sudharsan scored fifty to make the most of the occasion. His approach was good, but his knock for 61 was interrupted by a poor pull shot. It looked like he will covert this opportunity into a big score, but he played a shot which was not required.

England captain Ben Stokes deliberately set the field for him to play that shot, and Saudarsan played the shot in the air and was dismissed.

Shubman Gill, the captain of India, the century scorer in the first two games, was dismissed after misjudging an oncoming delivery from Ben Stokes and failing to offer a shot, allowing him to be trapped in front. Gill was only able to score 12 runs and did not survive long.

On Wednesday, Rishabh Pant became just the sixth Indian hitter to reach 1,000 runs in England, adding another feather to his crown.

On Day 1, Ben Stokes was the best bowler, getting rid of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. Day 1 was a mixed bag for both teams. India has lost 4 wickets and is doubtful of Rishabh Pant.

India Vs England, the opening hour of Day 2 will be very critical for Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja. They need to see the opening hour off and should not lose their wicket to get a firm footing for India in this very crucial test match.
