The Bowlers Set The Tone For India’s Victory, Followed By An Explosive Batting Display.

With an all-around performance, India defeated England by six wickets at Old Trafford on Wednesday, taking a decisive 3-1 lead in the five-match series, and this performance sealed India’s victory. With three overs remaining, India, chasing 127 for victory, overtook the total.

England chose to bat, and their innings got off to a poor start. Sophia Dunkley was at her best against Shree Charani in the third over. She clubbed a flighted delivery over cover for a six after slapping the opening ball past cover point for a boundary. Despite being costly in the opening two overs, Charani eventually got rid of Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

The absence of strike rotation made sure that the scoring rate stayed under check even as England continued to score goals, particularly with Tammy Beaumont taking on Sneh Rana. It was ineffective not to press aggressively early on because, with some excellent fielding, Radha Yadav managed to squeeze the scoring rate in the second half.

England’s attempts to accelerate were unsuccessful. By the 19th over, England had fallen to 110 for 7, as wickets continued to fall at a rapid pace. England passed the run-a-ball threshold thanks to sixes from Sophie Ecclestone and Izzy Wong in the final over, but the total wasn’t competitive enough.

With Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma exploding from both ends of the powerplay, any chance England had of making the pursuit difficult for India was blasted away. India reached 45/0 in the opening four overs. For a few overs after that, England did manage the scoring pace and even had Shafali caught at backward square leg, but the series’ third half-century opening stand had set the stage for a resounding win.

Mandhana eventually left as well, giving the short third fielder an advantage, but India held firm. As they easily rotated the strike on their way to their 42-run partnership for the third wicket, experienced pros Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues made sure there was no fear. Harmanpreet and Amanjot Kaur were dismissed by England in rapid succession, but the hosts were not very comforted.

Indian Women have now won the T20 series in England, and the fifth and final T20 game will be exciting as Indian Women will definitely focus on winning the fifth T20 and clinch the series 4-1 and secure India’s victory, historically. India’s Victory will improve India women’s ICC T20 ranking drastically.
