Krida Bharati National Convention Highlights Gujarat’s Rise

Krida Bharati National Convention stresses sports and society and focuses on Grassroots Power

The inauguration of the National Indian Convention of Krida Bharati was held today in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel. On this occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Minister warmly welcomed all office-bearers present from across India and praised the work being done by Krida Bharati to use sports as a means for social development.

The convention marked an important gathering for Krida Bharati, an organisation that has worked for decades to promote sports as a tool for character building, discipline and social unity. Such national conventions are usually held to review progress, share ideas from different states and strengthen coordination among volunteers and sports bodies. Leaders and representatives from across the country come together to discuss how sport can reach every level of society.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that Gujarat has today earned a place among the leading sports states of the country. He added that the State Government is making continuous efforts to ensure the all-round development of sportspersons.

Over the past few years, Gujarat has gained recognition for investing strongly in sports infrastructure and athlete support. The state has hosted national and international competitions and has encouraged young talent through school and community-level programmes. These efforts have helped many athletes from Gujarat perform well at national championships and represent India at higher levels.

He shared detailed information about the modern sports facilities developed in Gujarat, international-level stadiums, and the various incentive schemes implemented for athletes. He also mentioned that, in the future, Gujarat aims to host prestigious international events such as the Commonwealth Games.

Gujarat’s focus on sports facilities includes well-equipped stadiums, training centres and sports complexes that meet international standards. Incentive schemes, including financial rewards, scholarships and government jobs for successful athletes, have played a key role in motivating young players and their families. The mention of hosting events like the Commonwealth Games reflects the state’s long-term vision to place Gujarat firmly on the global sports map.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel released the book “Kridajyot”, which contains in-depth studies and articles on various aspects connected with the world of sports.

Books such as “Kridajyot” are often released at major conventions to spread knowledge and encourage discussion. They help coaches, players and organisers understand the deeper role of sport in society, including its impact on health, values and national unity. Such publications also serve as reference material for future planning and research in sports development.

During the convention, detailed discussions will be held on the action plan for the next three years, development of different sports, expansion of training infrastructure, and the identification and grooming of sportspersons at the grassroots level.

Planning for the next three years is crucial for any national sports organisation. Grassroots development, in particular, is seen as the foundation of long-term success. By identifying talent early and providing proper coaching, facilities and guidance, organisations like Krida Bharati aim to build a strong pipeline of athletes who can compete at state, national and international levels.

The inauguration session was attended by special guests, including Olympian Shri Gopal Saini (President, Krida Bharati), Shri Chaitanya Kashyap (Working President, Krida Bharati and Cabinet Minister, Government of Madhya Pradesh), Shri Raj Chaudhary (General Secretary, Krida Bharati), Olympic medal winner Yogeshwar Dutt (Vice President, Krida Bharati), and Shri Vivekbhai Patel, President of Gujarat Pradesh Krida Bharati.

The presence of Olympians and senior leaders added inspiration and credibility to the event. Athletes like Yogeshwar Dutt, who have won medals on the world stage, often play an important role in motivating young sportspersons and sharing real-life experiences. Their involvement helps bridge the gap between policy planning and the actual needs of athletes.

Overall, the inauguration of the National Indian Convention of Krida Bharati highlighted the growing importance of sports in nation-building. The discussions, plans and shared experiences during the convention are expected to guide future efforts in making sports accessible to all sections of society. With strong support from the state leadership and active participation from sports administrators and athletes, the convention reflected a shared commitment to nurturing talent, promoting values and strengthening India’s sporting culture.

Vote of thanks was given by Shri Vivek Patel and Dr Chirag Patel, Secretary.
