Swarrnim Science College, part of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University in Gandhinagar, organised the Krishna Mahotsav celebration to mark Janmashtami on August 14. The event began with a Maha Aarti, followed by competitive events such as singing, dance, Matki decoration, skits, quiz, and the matkifod competition, themed on Janmashtami. Students, faculty members and staff all involved and immersed themselves in the cultural celebrations with fun and unity. Swarrnim Science College, part of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University in Gandhinagar, organised the Krishna Mahotsav celebration to mark Janmashtami on August 14.

Swarrnim University is a private university in Gandhinagar, set up in 2017, and is approved by the UGC. It brings science, design, business, health, and more together to promote innovation and startups.  The science college especially helps students explore science subjects like biology, physics, chemistry, biotechnology, and environmental studies with hands-on learning. The event began with a Maha Aarti, followed by competitive events such as singing, dance, Matki decoration, skits, quiz, and the matkifod competition, themed on Janmashtami. Janmashtami is a joyful festival that celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna. People often start the festival with Aarti, a prayer ceremony, to invite blessings and joy.

Matki decoration and breaking the Matki (matkifod) is a playful sport from India. It replicates the scene of young Krishna stealing butter from pots. It teaches teamwork and makes students excited. Skits, singing, dancing, quizzes – these fun parts help students learn stories about Lord Krishna, like his playful and inspiring actions. They make learning feel like play. Students, faculty members and staff all involved and immersed themselves in the cultural celebrations with fun and unity. Swarrnim University strongly encourages teamwork, creativity, and togetherness through events like this. It helps everyone feel connected and happy. Such celebrations build warm bonds and also show how culture and education can go hand-in-hand to make learning fun.
