Mohamed Salah and Liverpool
On Friday, July 1, Mohamed Salah extended his contract with Liverpool, keeping him at Anfield through the year 2025. The Reds have finally reached a contract with the winger they acquired from Roma in 2017 following numerous rumors that Salah would leave the team when his wage demands were not met. Salah assisted his teammates 16 times during the 2021–22 season, scoring 31 goals in 51 games across all competitions.
A delegation travelled out to meet with the 30-year-old forward, who is still on vacation in the Mediterranean, and they were able to reach a deal that will apparently make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history. The 30-year-old forward’s wage demands had been a sticking point.
“I’m in terrific shape, and I’m eager to help the club win trophies. Today is a joyful day for everyone “According to Salah, the club website.
“I believe that renewing takes some time, but now that everything has been completed, all that is left is for us to concentrate on what comes next. I believe it is clear that the team has been moving forward for the past five or six years.”
Since joining the team in 2017, Salah has tallied 156 goals in 254 games and has contributed to the club’s victories in the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup.
Salah stated, “If I remember back to that time when I came (here), the club weren’t winning anything but I think I told you I had come (here) to win trophies.”
“I believe we have accomplished great things as a team, and I believe we can do it again.”
Despite finishing second to Manchester City in the Premier League and losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Liverpool won the FA Cup and League Cup the previous season.
Salah joined Liverpool from Italian club Roma in 2017 and has since made 254 appearances for the Premier League team, scoring 156 goals in the process. After Sadio Mane left, Liverpool added some firepower by bringing in Darwin Nunez from Benfica. Also joining Klopp’s army in January was Luis Diaz, who played in 26 games and netted six goals.
