Shubh Yatra
Shub yatra cast and crew during premier

Synopsis:

Two young men living in a small village have a load of debt on their heads and to pay that debt, they both decide to go to America and earn money and pay their debts.

Their idea was honest. As we all know Gujaratis are very passionate about going to America, but these two honest men got in touch with a cheater agent and are trapped in one lie of making a passport.

The movie goes on with the chain of lies that follows and are trapped in that and the movie gives you lots of twists and turns.

How the honest man turns a lier. On the other side, a lady journalist helps these men but see what happens to her. She also gets trapped. What happens to these guys at the end is interesting and will be clear to you once you watch the movie in the theatre.

I will not disclose the complete story as it will be a spoiler.

Review

The film “Shub Yatra” is an official remake of a South Indian movie wherein the South superstar Vijay Sethupathi is the lead actor.  However, I have not seen that movie so will not be able to compare these two.

The movie is like complete Indian Thali, wherein the director is from North  (Haryana), the actors are from West (Gujarati Actors) and the producers are from South (Tamil), so this movie can be termed as a complete Indian Cusine – Indian Thali.

This is one of the finest family entertainer Gujarati movies I have seen till now. No nonsense every situation makes sense and no unbelievable scenes or situations.  Everything happens in our day-to-day life and that’s where the movie connects with you.

There are only two to three songs which actually move ahead the movie and the story.  There is no action scenes, and I think that it is not required also.

What I think is a lack of bit romance in the story.  As Malhar and Monal are a super hit couple of Gujarati cinema. It’s my personal opinion that this Jodi deserves a bit of romance in the story.

The dialogues are awesome and make sense and many times make you laugh also.

The plot of the story is similar to one of the Gujarati films “Kevi Rite Jaish” but both films are different.

The Writing, Editing and Direction:

The movie has been written, edited and directed by  Manish Saini, whose first film “Dhh” has won a national film award and he has proved himself via this film “Shub Yatra” that he deserves the national award.

When asked what is the toughest job in film production, he said that the promotion of the film he feels is the toughest job. Because he never had any problem in making the film.  He enjoyed while he was writing, editing and directing, but when it comes to promotion there he feels pressure.

After watching the film, a few shots are very well taken, the aerial shot of Malhar lying on the terrace and a plane going above him is excellent.

The writing of the script is very well defined and explained. So full marks to Manish Saini on his writing skills and direction.

Let’s talk about Acting:

Every actor played their part very well, I did not feel like overacting or underacting on even a single shot of the entire movie.  Darshan Jariwala does is excellent and his expressions says it all.  There were a few shots where his expressions spoke everything before he delivered the dialogue, so impressive.

Malhar is superb, he has delivered what he is expected to.  He has taken the whole movie on his head and has delivered good work.  It seems that this is the movie which has brightened up the acting skills of Malhar Thakkar, highly appreciated.

Hemin Trivedi has been very good and has made me laugh quite a few times without doing any overacting.

What to say about Monal, she looks stunning and her smile is very infectious which brings a smile to your face as well. She is proving herself to be a very good actor, whichever role you give her, she does it with the same passion and dedication this is what it reflected on the screen of “Shub Yatra”.

Overall, everyone has played their role perfectly well, not a single actor has given any negative impact on me while watching the movie. Perfect casting.

Music is good and it is not loud and neither gives pain to the ears.

Full marks to Mr. Manish Saini.

Positive Points of the movie:

  1. Excellent way of writing the Gujarati script, even though the writer, Manish Saini is non-Gujarati.
  2. The dialogues are simple and seem that are used in our day to day.
  3. Full marks to Manish Saini for his writing and direction.
  4. The background music score is excellent and good for ears.
  5. One star to all actors for their acting.
  6. Though it is a remake of South Movie, it seems original as we Gujaratis are very fond of going to America.

Negative points of the movie:

  1. Few romantic dialogues could have been added as Malhar and Monal are a superstar Gujarati movie couple.
  2. The movie gives a message to all Gujaratis willing to go to America but the movie does not give much emphasis on that message.

Final Words from Newzdaddy:

A must-watch movie for everyone who is insane about moving abroad. A complete family entertainer, since the language of the movie is very lucid and simple without any abusive words. No violence or any scenes that makes you uncomfortable watching with your family.

Newzdaddy Ratings:

4/5 (****)
