Newz Daddy Entertainment Updates

The star cast of Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar’s much-awaited film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari visited Ahmedabad as part of the film’s promotional tour. Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Maniesh Paul attended a grand promotional event in the city and even joined fans in the festive spirit by playing Garba.
Big Bollywood films often pick Gujarat as a key stop during promotions because Navratri Garba is one of the state’s most celebrated festivals, attracting both locals and tourists. Stars dancing at Garba adds cultural connection, and this move helps build strong word-of-mouth in the Gujarati market.

Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions and set to release on October 2, the film has already generated immense buzz among audiences. Dharma Productions, founded by Yash Johar in 1976 and now headed by Karan Johar, is one of the most influential film houses in India. It is known for blockbusters like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Student of the Year, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. For this project, Dharma has teamed up with Mentor Disciple Entertainment, making the film a high-profile collaboration.

Promising a delightful mix of light-hearted romance, comedy, confusion, and emotions, the film is positioned as a complete family entertainer. Family entertainers often do well in the festive season, when audiences want to enjoy a movie outing with all age groups. Films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham have set that trend earlier.

Talking about the storyline, Varun Dhawan’s character is in love with Sanya Malhotra, but she is set to marry Rohit Saraf, who is Janhvi Kapoor’s ex-boyfriend. Both Varun and Janhvi feel wronged by fate. The twist unfolds when Varun tells Janhvi that the two exes are marrying each other. Bonding over their heartbreak, they plan to win back their loves by masquerading as each other’s partners, leading to romantic confusion and comedic misadventures.
This type of storyline, filled with disguises and mistaken identities, has been a popular Bollywood trope for decades. Movies like Chupke Chupke and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania have used similar comedy-of-errors storytelling styles.

During their Ahmedabad stop, the star cast said, “Gujarati audiences have always embraced films with open hearts. The love and respect we received in Ahmedabad is truly special for us.” Gujarat has historically shown strong box office collections for Hindi films, especially during festivals. Cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara are considered important hubs where filmmakers actively promote their films.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film is jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment. Producers include Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Hiroo Yash Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Shashank Khaitan. Shashank Khaitan, known for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, has made a name for directing youthful love stories with humour and drama. Adar Poonawalla, known globally as the CEO of Serum Institute of India, has been investing in creative projects like cinema in recent years, bringing his entrepreneurial expertise into film production.

The film’s music has already been making waves. The song “Bijuriya”, recreated by Tanishk Bagchi and inspired by the original Sonu Nigam classic, has struck a chord with fans. Bagchi is well-known for reimagining old Bollywood songs into modern hits, which often trend on Instagram reels and YouTube shorts. The newer track “Tu Hai Meri” is getting attention in promos and social media campaigns, further boosting the film’s anticipation.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is scheduled to hit theatres across India on October 2, 2025, aiming to be a festive family hit. The release date, chosen to coincide with Dussehra, ensures that audiences get a holiday outing option. However, the makers face a big challenge: a box office clash with Kantara: Chapter 1. The original Kantara became a cultural phenomenon in India, mixing folklore with spirituality, and its prequel is expected to draw huge crowds. Box office clashes are common in Bollywood, but they often divide screens and audiences, putting extra pressure on both films to perform. Trade experts predict that strong word-of-mouth will decide which film emerges as the winner.
