T20 World Cup 2022: India Vs South Africa

T20 World Cup 2022

India takes on south Africa to remain on top of the group 2

India will be against one of the favourites of the T20 World cup 2022.  India vs South Africa in Optus Stadium, Perth on 30th October.

Both teams have recently three T20 internationals played against each other in India before the T20 World cup in 2022.  India had an upper hand in that series.

Looking at the stats of T20 International between these two strong sides it shows that 22 T20 matches have been played and out of that 13 have been won by India and 9 have been won by South Africa.

Both teams have pretty strong bowling lineups comprising the pacers in face of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen from South Africa and from India, it will be Arshdeepsingh, Mohammad Shami, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya.

As far as batting is concerned, South Africa has Quinton de Kock, their captain Temba Bavuma, Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, and David Miller.  From India, it will be Rohit, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar and a little out-of-form KL Rahul.

Middle-order strength is also an equal sequel of both sides.  So comparing the strengths and weaknesses of both the teams are nearly equal.  Only the upper hand will b bit in the spin department as Ashwin is having much more experience compared to Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj.

Group 1 is evenly poised and it is pretended that the Net run Rate of the semi-finalists from group 1 may be deciding factor.

The Pitch And Weather

The match is going to be played in Optus Stadium, Perth and the history of Perth’s pitch is that it is fast-paced and helps seamers quite a bit; however, it will be interesting to see on which pitch the match is going to be played will it be on the used pitch or the new one.

The team winning the toss may choose to bat first as the team batting first has more wins compared to batting second on this pitch.

The average total here for the team batting first is not so high though.  The wicket will not allow the batters to score more runs and it will not be a high-scoring match.  The average score batting first is 143 runs in T20.

Recently, Australia successfully chased the target of 158 against Sri Lanka when Marcus Stoinis played a blinder of an innings and scored 9 runs in just 18 balls.

So the chasing will not be a difficult task here either. In the other match where England scored 208 runs batting first and won the match by 8 runs against the home side Australia.

This shows that the pitch is favouring both who will be batting first and/or batting second.

As far as weather, it should remain cloudy as per the local met department; however, the chances of having rain is less likely so we hope that we will have a full match on display.

Indian Team Analysis

Looking at the number of left-handed players of South Africa, India may opt to continue with the experience of Ashwin.  Ashwin has always performed well against the left-handers.

The team India may not make any changes in the playing 11 which won both matches.  However, there is doubt about KL Rahul as he has failed to perform in both outings. The Netherlands was an easy match in that also Rahul could not deliver, though he was unlucky that he was given out LBW and Rahul did not go for Review, had he been gone through then his score might have been different.

South African Team Analysis

South African team management is very much aware no other team in the world plays spinner better than India.  Proteas may go ahead with left-arm spinners though looking at the number of right-handers on the Indian side.

They have a very strong pace attack in form of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen; however, if they are going with two spinners then either Jansen or Ngidi will be on the bench.

The team management will take this decision after assessing the weather condition and the pitch tomorrow.

Assessment from Newzdaddy

Both teams have good records in this world cup and both teams have in-form players playing on their sides.  Rilee Rossouw scored a brilliant 100 in his last match and is in form.  Andrich Nortje too 4 wickets against Bangladesh and he is at his peak of speed and accuracy.

It will be very interesting to see the Indian team handles these two while bowling and batting.

Looking at the Indian side, it has been a great pleasure to see that Virat is back at its best and is yet to be dismissed in this T20 World Cup.  Surya Kumar Yadav is in the form of his life and had scored 53 runs in just 25 balls.

It will be a great match to watch as both teams will be competing to remain on top of the table and dominate the group.
