Puri Jagannadh, a Tollywood director, is rumoured to be planning a movie with Salman Khan, a Bollywood star, following the failure of “Liger.”
There is rumour in the Telugu film business that Salman expressed interest in the project after the director read him a draught. Salman Khan and Puri Jagannadh’s collaboration, however unofficial, has been rumoured ever since the Bollywood actor appeared in “Wanted,” a remake of the Tollywood director’s “Pokiri,” which starred Mahesh Babu.
Wanted, one of the top films of 2009, was directed by Prabhudeva. However, the two have not worked together.
However, there have been new rumours that Puri Jagannadh had approached Salman with a script. It’s interesting to note that they both appeared in megastar Chiranjeevi’s film “Godfather.” While Salman made an extended cameo, the filmmaker portrayed a journalist.
If Puri and Salman collaborate on the planned project, it might be possible for the Tollywood filmmaker to get past the difficult period he has been going through lately. Vijay Deverakonda’s recent film, “Liger,” flopped at the box office.
The Hindi-Telugu film reportedly cost around 125 crores to make and included American boxer, Mike Tyson, in a lengthy appearance. Mega shootings for the movie, with Ananya Panday playing the female lead, took place in Las Vegas, and the producers had high hopes for it.
Along with the movie’s failure, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) interrogated Vijay Deverakonda, actor-turned-producer Charmme Kaur, and director Puri Jagannadh over alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
According to reports, they were questioned over the funding for the film “Liger,” which was released in August of this year.
The director and producer were reportedly questioned by ED officials on claims that foreign investors contributed millions of rupees to the film’s production, presumably in violation of FEMA.
Puri Jagannadh and Charmee Kaur are appearing before the ED for the second time. The agency questioned them and other movie stars last year in regard to claims of money in the purported celebrity drug case.
Prior to this, the State Prohibition and Excise Department’s Special Investigation Team had questioned them after filing a complaint in 2017.
