In a remarkable initiative ahead of International Women’s Day, the Adani Group welcomed a distinguished delegation of women ambassadors from nine countries to Gujarat. The visit was aimed at providing an in-depth look at India’s rapid progress in clean energy, infrastructure, and industrial development.
The ambassadors explored two key locations Khavda and Mundra which are at the heart of India’s transformation in renewable energy and global trade. They witnessed firsthand how technology, sustainability, and women’s participation are shaping the future of the country.
The delegation’s first stop was Khavda, a vast, remote region in Gujarat’s Kutch district. Here, Adani Green Energy, India’s largest renewable energy company, is constructing what will soon be the world’s largest clean energy project. Covering an area five times the size of Paris, this 30 GW solar and wind energy project is set to play a significant role in fulfilling India’s increasing energy needs with clean and sustainable power.
The ambassadors toured the Energy Network Operations Centre (ENOC), where they met women engineers managing cutting-edge renewable energy infrastructure. The visit highlighted India’s commitment to empowering women in science, technology, and engineering, ensuring they play a critical role in the country’s sustainable growth.
Next, the delegation traveled to Mundra Port, India’s largest commercial port, which handles approximately 11% of the country’s total maritime cargo and 33% of its container traffic. The port is a key driver of India’s trade, supporting global supply chains and industrial expansion.
The ambassadors toured the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) located within the Mundra Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This hub has attracted global investors looking to set up advanced manufacturing units in India. The delegation was particularly impressed by women’s role in manufacturing, contributing to the country’s push for innovation and self-reliance.
The visit also included a stop at Adani’s state-of-the-art solar manufacturing plant, a cornerstone in India’s mission for self-sufficiency in renewable energy.
