Emraan Hashmi on Social Media Trolling
Emraan Hashmi shared his thoughts on the dual nature of social media. He said, “I think there are two schools of thought. Some actors want to put everything up in the public domain to make their lives seem interesting, while others prefer to keep their private lives separate. I belong to the latter school. Neither approach is right or wrong. Sometimes, social media can get intrusive, but I’ve never experienced it to an extreme extent. Throughout my 20-year career, the press has been courteous, and I’ve never felt that my privacy was invaded.”
Hashmi acknowledged the reality of trolling, stating, “Trolling is a reality. It’s usually people who like to criticize, who might have some personal issues, and their negative experiences reflect in what they say about actors. We become easy targets. I check comments occasionally, but I’m not constantly monitoring social media. You must take trolling with a grain of salt and not let it affect you too seriously.”
