Randhir Kapoor, a veteran actor, is in the early stages of dementia, according to his nephew, actor Ranbir Kapoor.
According to Ranbir, the 75-year-old actor just saw “Sharmaji Namkeen,” his younger brother Rishi Kapoor’s final movie appearance.
Rishi died in April 2020, at the age of 67, after a two-year struggle with leukemia.
Ranbir claimed in an interview with NDTV that after Randhir viewed the movie, his first reaction was to call Rishi.
“I remember when my entire family saw it, my father’s older brother, my uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is suffering from dementia, came up to me afterward and said, ‘Tell dad that he was fantastic in this film, and where is he?”’ Let’s call him that,’ Ranbir said.

“Art transcends medical illnesses, concerns, and conflicts, with a strong piece of storytelling standing out. “‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ is a great example of that,” he remarked.

Randhir, Raj Kapoor’s eldest son, lost both his siblings, Rishi and Rajiv, in a ten-month period. Rajiv died in February of last year at the age of 58. Ritu Nanda, the veteran’s sister, died in 2020 as well. Following Rishi’s death, the producers considered bringing Ranbir on board to finish the film with VFX.
Actor Paresh Rawal was eventually cast in the role.

In an interview with NDTV, Ranbir claimed that when Randhir viewed the movie, he was blown away.

“I remember my father’s elder brother, my uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is suffering through an early stage of dementia, came up to me after the movie and said, ‘Tell dad that he was fantastic in this film, and where is he, let’s contact him,'” Ranbir added.
