HUGE claim made by Shane Warne against former Pakistan captain, Saleem Malik

Famous Australian spinner Shane Warne has dropped a bomb by divulging that the former Pakistan captain Saleem Malik provided him with hundreds of millions of dollars in exchange for a chance to spare Pakistan team members from the consequences of defeat.

Shane Warne is the second-highest wicket-taker of all time in the history of test cricket with 708 wickets within the most lengthy format said he was offered an enormous US$200,000 ($AUD276,000 and approximately 1.5 crore) by Malik to not perform well in a test game against Pakistan. The incident is believed to have occurred towards the end of play on the fourth day of the game in Karachi in 1994.

In his forthcoming documentary “Shane” in Amazon Prime, Warne said former Pakistan cricketer Saleem Malik said to Warne, “I need to see you.” He added “We’re feeling pretty confident that we’re going to knock over Pakistan. I knock on the door, Saleem Malik answers the door. I sit down, and he goes, ‘Good match we’ve got going. I went, ‘Yep, I think we should win tomorrow though’. “

“He says, ‘Well we won’t lose,’ …. You don’t know what will happen if we lose in Pakistan. Our houses will burn down, our family’s homes will be burned down.”

Warne continued to say that Malik gave his teammate Tim May a $276,000 bribe to bowl a series of wides, and not search for wickets.

“I don’t really know what to say,” Warne claimed.”I simply sat there in shock. Then I say “F*** You Mate. We’re going beat you tomorrow.”

It is interesting to note that Warne received his Player of the Award for his 8/150. However, Inzamamu-Ul Haq and No. 11. Mushtaq Ahmed put together a 57-run partnership in order to help Pakistan score only a one-wicket victory.

Warne added, “When you talk about match-fixing now, people hope it doesn’t go on. Back in that time, 30 years ago, there was no talk about it. It had never raised its head anywhere in any sport. When he offered me that, it was a bit like, ‘What the hell?’ I was blown away, I didn’t know anything about it. “

In addition, Warne and Tim had also notified Mark Taylor and national coach Bob Simpson about the incident that was later communicated to the referee to match John Reid.

Saleem Malik Banned

Saleem Malik was then exiled by the ICC for life in the year 2000 and finished the season with 5768 runs from Test cricket, including fifteen centuries as well as 7170 runs during One-day Internationals.
