Adani Completes India’s Largest Power Line Linking Western and Southern Regions

Newzdaddy Business Updates

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has finished building a massive power transmission line called the Warora Kurnool Transmission (WKTL). This long line, stretching 1,756 kilometers through Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, will make it easier to send power from the western part of India to the southern region. This will help ensure that electricity can flow smoothly between these areas and strengthen the power grid.

Background: The WKTL project started in 2015 to create a connection for moving electricity from the west to the south of India. It involved building a big power station in Warangal and laying down a 765-kilovolt transmission line. Adani took over the project in 2021. To build the towers for the transmission line, they used a lot of steel, about as much as it would take to build 10 Eiffel Towers! They also used a special kind of alloy for the transmission lines.

One amazing part of the project was the construction of two tall towers in the Krishna River. This had never been done before. They had to carefully plan when to build these towers because they could only work in the river when the water level was low. They also had to deal with challenges like building towers near other power lines, railway tracks, and highways.

Some impressive achievements of this project:

  • They finished hanging the transmission lines along 1,524 kilometers in just 11 months.
  • They built one big tower every day on average, with lots of workers.
  • At the busiest times, they had up to 2,000 workers at different sites.
  • The project faced challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, which caused problems with getting the materials they needed.

In simple terms, Adani has built a super-long power line that connects the western and southern parts of India. This will make sure there’s enough electricity for everyone and help the country use more renewable energy. It was a big project with lots of challenges, but they did it
