Young Boys Club’s Durga Puja: A Celebration of Unity

In Kolkata, the Young Boys Club celebrated its 54th Durga Puja with a special theme. This time, they chose to show how powerful Goddess Durga is and what she means to all of us. The celebration began with an inauguration by Sri. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, a Member of Parliament, was attended by many important people. The venue, located near Tara Chand Dutta Street in Central Kolkata, is a big attraction for locals.

Goddess Durga is a powerful and sacred figure in Hindu stories. She has ten hands and each hand holds a different weapon, symbolizing the powers that people have. She protects her followers from all directions – even from the sky and the earth. The ten globes she holds in her hands show that she is looking after ten important things on Earth.

Mr. Rakesh Singh, the Chief Organiser, explained that this year, they wanted to show how powerful Goddess Durga is and how she is connected to the world. The 32-foot-tall idol of Mother Durga placed outside represents her as a source of global power. The ten globes in her hands represent different parts of the Earth that she protects.

Inside the pandal (the decorated area), you can see beautiful artwork. There’s also a model of Chandrayaan-3, celebrating India’s success in space.

The message of Goddess Durga is simple but important. The ten globes in her hands teach us that the world is like a big family, just like the saying “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” in Sanskrit. This means we should care about everyone in the world, not just our own family. We should work together to solve big problems like climate change and make the world a better place.

Durga Puja is not just about big statues; it’s about following the good values that Goddess Durga teaches us. As people across India welcome her into their homes, they remember to be kind, work together, and protect our world.
