SVPI Airport Sees Remarkable Growth in Passenger and Cargo Numbers for Q3 FY25

In the third quarter of the fiscal year 2025 (Q3 FY25), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI), which is run by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, had a notable increase in both passenger and cargo volumes. When compared to the same time last year, the airport—a significant hub in Gujarat—has demonstrated a strong growth in activities.

An astounding 3,550,662 passengers were handled at SVPI Airport in Q3 FY25, an 18% increase over the 3,008,091 passengers handled in Q3 FY24. Due to the inclusion of new destinations and more frequent flights, the airport’s significance as a travel hub is shown by this spike in passenger volume.

In a similar vein, airplane traffic movements (ATMs) increased by more than 15%, handling 27,163 ATMs in Q3 FY25 as opposed to 23,519 the year before. The airport achieved a new record for the fiscal year on December 22, 2024, when it handled 44,253 passenger movements and 324 automated teller machines. With almost 43,800 passengers apiece, December 13 and 12 were the second and third busiest days.

Domestically, the most popular destinations for passengers departing from SVPI Airport were Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, and Goa. The busiest international routes were those to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Kuwait, and Jeddah.

Recent improvements to the airport’s infrastructure have been essential in handling the surge in traffic. The Terminal-2 Extended Check-in Hall, which has expedited passenger check-ins, and the launch of an inter-terminal electric shuttle service, which improves communication between terminals, are noteworthy improvements. In order to ensure smooth internet access for visitors with non-Indian SIM cards, Wi-Fi voucher dispensers have also been installed.

Along with more frequent flights to cities like Kochi and Kolkata, new flights have been introduced to places like Da Nang, Guwahati, Dimapur, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolhapur, and Kuwait. The expansion of the airport and its capacity to manage additional people effectively have been greatly aided by these improvements.

Additionally, SVPI Airport’s cargo operations have grown significantly. In Q3 of FY25, the airport handled more than 17,900 metric tonnes of cargo, a 17% increase over the same period the year before. Significantly, international freight increased by more than 300%, highlighting the airport’s growing significance in international logistics.

At the National Energy Saving Awards (NECA) 2024, SVPI Airport received a coveted Certificate of Merit, making it the only airport in India to be acknowledged for its exceptional dedication to energy saving. The airport’s commitment to innovative and sustainable operations is demonstrated by this award.
