IPL 2025: Nitish Rana says “One Person Never Takes Such Decisions…”
Newz Daddy IPL 2025 Updates
Why Rajasthan Royals Didn’t Send Nitish Rana for the Super Over Against DC in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
At the Delhi Capitals vs. Rajasthan Royals game on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi, the IPL 2025 saw its first Super Over. After DC batted first and scored 188/5, RR eventually reached 188/4 in 20 overs. Nitish Rana’s 51 off 28 balls helped RR get back on track after they faltered a little in the middle overs. But when the scores were tied, the game entered a Super Over. It’s interesting to note that RR dispatched Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer, and Riyan Parag in the Super Over. Despite scoring 11 runs and losing two wickets, they were unable to even finish the six-ball. The Super Over target of 12 runs in four balls was chased by DC.
“The call is answered by management, not a single individual. Along with two other senior players and coaches, the captain is present. You wouldn’t be asking this question if Shimron Hetmyer had hit two sixes. I’ll respond with the same response. I have no other response. Every choice we made was the right one. Everyone knows that Hetmyer is our finisher. During the press conference, Rana stated, “He has previously delivered.”
Such calls are never answered by a single person. The purpose of management and support personnel is to talk about such matters. Your question would have been different if the ruling had been in our favour. Cricket is a sport that focuses on results. If Sandeep Sharma, who has bowled brilliantly in the past, had performed well in the Super Over. He was perhaps the bowler for us in this case. We had lost a major shot. In the Super Over, our goal was to score 15 runs.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, the Delhi Capitals (DC) maintained composure to defeat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an exciting Super Over and go up to the top of the points table in a game that had its ups and downs.
Late appearances by skipper Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, and Ashutos Sharma lifted DC out of a tight spot and allowed them to post a commanding 188/5 on a sluggish pitch. Nitish Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal threatened to lead RR to victory in the reply by each scoring 51 runs.
However, the game entered a Super Over for the first time in the IPL since 2022 due to Mitchell Starc’s defence of nine runs in the last over. As RR stayed at 12, Starc once more performed admirably for DC in the Super Over. Stubbs and KL Rahul maintained their composure to help DC secure an amazing victory—their first of the current season—in New Delhi.
DC used Starc to defeat Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer in the Super Oval. With a goal of 12 runs to win for DC, the pair committed harakiri by being run out on consecutive balls after hitting a boundary each off him, including off a no-ball.
Rahul took two runs on the first ball, then took a single after cutting Sandeep Sharma for four. In order to complete an exciting victory for DC, who have now won a Super Over for the fourth time in their IPL history, Stubbs then dragged Sandeep over deep mid-wicket for six.
After this loss, now the Rajasthan Royals need to win all their remaining matches to qualify for the play-off, which is very difficult. So the road ahead for Rajasthan Royals is a dead end for IPL 2025, where they end up in the points table is to see at the end of the tournament. Rajasthan Royals management will have to take only the positives and analyse the negatives from this year’s tournament.
The points table stands like this
