Prof. Kumar has had multiple visiting professorships at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, and the University of Calcutta in Kolkata, in addition to his position at Queen’s.
Regarding his appointment, Prof. Kumar said, “It is a privilege to assume this important position as we build Queen’s University’s new international branch campus in GIFT City. This historic achievement is an important step in our global engagement strategy since it will allow us to expand Queen’s top-notch education into new areas and establish strong, long-lasting relationships with academic and industry stakeholders in India. Our shared goal is to make a significant contribution to the region’s changing transnational educational and economic scene.
The President and Vice-Chancellor of QUB, Professor Sir Ian Greer, states: “I am pleased to welcome Prof. Satish Kumar to serve as the head of Queen’s new campus in India. In order to provide an engaging educational experience for students, his leadership will fortify our scholarly alliances and encourage cooperation with business and the government. Being the first UK Russell Group University in GIFT City, this is a significant milestone. As we approach our opening next year and open up new doors for students, faculty, and the community at large, I’m excited to collaborate with him.”
“We are thrilled to have Satish as our first Dean of Gift City,” stated Professor Margaret Topping, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement at QUB. This is an important position that will lay solid groundwork for our employees, students, and national partners. Satish contributes a plethora of expertise in creating successful collaborative learning environments and intersectoral relationships.
We will shortly announce the hiring of the academic staff members who will oversee the campus program implementation in addition to Prof. Kumar. At first, we will provide a portfolio of five postgraduate programs that are specifically designed to meet the demands of the Indian economy.
