Flawed Love Stories Make Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara Special

Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from viewers who believe that the love drama is about two real people who are incredibly compatible despite their flaws and problems. Mohit says he wanted to make a movie about “imperfect people who become perfect in each other’s company,” and the songs from the movie that highlight this obvious chemistry are already going viral online.
According to the master filmmaker, “perfect and complete love stories are made by flawed, imperfect people.” I find myself rooting for these characters and their romances because they seem genuine and sympathetic. Saiyaara is a really beautiful tale that people should see and consider to be either their own stories or that they have encountered lovers like this.
Some of the most captivating teenage love stories of our time have been told by Mohit over his illustrious 20-year career.
He identifies when a love story resonates with the audience since he is a master of the romance genre. “If everything between the boy and the girl is hunky dory, there can’t be an amazing love story,” he argues. Pain and heartbreak are inevitable when there is love. We have no other option. It must speak to your soul and touch your heart. A good love tale, in my opinion, must evoke strong emotional responses in the reader, which can only be achieved when the story feels authentic.
“With Saiyaara, I’m trying to tell a story like this,” Mohit continues. This love tale is quite sincere, and I hope that viewers of Saiyaara, which opens in theatres on July 18, will feel the same way. One of the most memorable love tales I have helmed in my two decades of directing is Saiyaara. Only because of the passion between this little boy and girl does it hold a special place in my heart. I was drawn in to tell their narrative because of its simple yet intricate and unusual plot.
“There is nothing conventional about it,” he adds, “if you look at the two main performers, Ahaan and Aneet, and the lovers they are playing in Saiyaara. These two characters in the movie are figuring out their lives together while dealing with their problems; they haven’t achieved much in life, come from very different backgrounds, and have very different morals, struggle with their problems, and are flawed in their own right, but strive to be flawless together! As a director, I want to tell that kind of love story, and I hope it’s the kind of love story that audiences want to see.
The crowd is intrigued by Saiyaara’s title. In poetry, it’s frequently used to express anything (or someone) that is bright, ethereal, or otherworldly. It means a wandering celestial body, like a wandering light that is always shining, always leading, but always out of reach.
Aneet Padda, who won hearts with her outstanding performance in the highly popular series Big Girls Don’t Cry, plays the female lead in the film, which also introduces Ahaan Panday as a hero to the Hindi cinema industry. Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of the company, is producing Saiyaara, which is scheduled to open in theatres across the globe on July 18, 2025.
In almost 50 years of existence, YRF is renowned for providing India with some of the most iconic love films ever made, most of which were helmed by Yash and Aditya Chopra. Aashiqui 2, Malang, Ek Villain, and other beloved romance films have been directed by Mohit Suri, who is currently in his 20th year of filmmaking.
