Innovation, entrepreneurship, and potential in India’s sports ecosystem are highlighted during this two-day event. The Sportspreneur Event 2025 will take place on August 1 and 2 at Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University’s campus in Gandhinagar’s Bhoyan Rathod. The event provides a venue for startups, sports professionals, investors, players, coaches, and students to interact with the rapidly changing sports entrepreneurship ecosystem. It is designed as a convergence of innovations, sports, and enterprise. The event covers important facets of the sports industry ecosystem, such as startup pitches, sports entrepreneurs’ exhibits, and panel discussions with policymakers, athletes from across the world, and other important stakeholders. Over 200 students and businesspeople took part on the first day, and 15 firms with a sports focus showcased their goods and services.
The occasion coincides with Bharat’s consideration as a possible 2036 Olympic host, a development that would strengthen India’s expanding partnership between sports, innovation, and business. By providing a variety of carefully designed experiences, Sportspreneur Event 2025 seeks to further accelerate this trend by assisting aspiring sports entrepreneurs and startups. These consist of live product demonstrations, interactive workshops on sports technology and monetisation, branding sessions, high-impact networking opportunities, and startup pitch sessions with a chance to win seed funding of up to Rs 5 lakh.
“As India prepares for the 2036 Olympics, now is the time to align innovation with athletic ambition,” said Shri RD Barhatt, Joint Industries Commissioner, MSME & Startup Gujarat, in his introductory remarks. Through technology, smart devices, and esports, startups can significantly contribute to the solution of actual problems. Our sports industry needs to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 14% in order to keep up with the worldwide trend. Over one crore people might find work in this area with the correct assistance. It’s crucial to evaluate local requirements prior to implementing policies, and businesses can help by developing solutions for those needs.
“If Gujarat is chosen to host the 2036 Olympics, it could spark significant economic and infrastructure development,” stated Shri BH Talati, Director of the Gujarat Knowledge Society. We must boost grassroots sports, draw significant investment, and unleash the enormous potential of sports entrepreneurship if we are to take advantage of this chance.
Leading personalities from the sports, startup, and venture capital industries will provide keynote presentations at the event, which also grants chosen attendees access to an exclusive lounge. At least 25 national and international athletes from a variety of sports, including wrestling, kabaddi, athletics, and parasports, received recognition for their accomplishments and contributions to Indian sports during the opening ceremony.
In addition, six national and six international athletes received recognition for their exceptional accomplishments. In order to promote inclusive sports development and expedite athletic activities, an MOU was also signed by Dr. Ragin Shah, provost of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, and Shri Paras Shah, president of the Cerebral Palsy Sports Federation of India.
“Sports entrepreneurship is gaining significant traction as India’s sports landscape continues to evolve,” stated Shri Rishabh Jain, President of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University. By offering a vibrant environment for cooperation, communication, and development among aspiring business owners, athletes, and investors, the event aims to meaningfully bring innovation and sports together.
The first institution in India devoted to innovation and entrepreneurship is Swarrnim Startup and Innovation Institution.
The goal of Sportspreneur 2025, according to Dr. Ragin Shah, Provost of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, is to create a culture in which sport and business coexist. Events like these support young innovators in the rapidly expanding sports industry by helping them forge better teams, remain receptive to criticism, and translate audacious ideas into practical effects, particularly as India prepares for prospects like the 2036 Olympics.
With courses in engineering, design, management, agriculture, paramedical sciences, and other fields, the university’s goal is to foster innovative thinking and develop leaders who are prepared for the future by using an education approach that is focused on startups.
