Vadinar is on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat. This area is sensitive because it has oil handling terminals and refineries, plus unique marine life. Such workshops are part of India’s efforts under the National Oil-spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOSDCP). Case study analysis helps agencies learn from past spill incidents: what went right, what failed. This improves future response.
Tabletop exercises are simulations: participants plan a response in a meeting room, without going out. It helps test coordination, communication, and decision-making. Static equipment displays show the tools and gear used (booms, skimmers, dispersant sprayers, etc.). Seeing them physically helps people know what is available and how to use them. Mock drill operations are practice runs: e.g. simulating a spill at sea or on the shoreline. This test involves real-time reaction, logistics, and safety.
