“Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Movie Review”
A new web series called “Taskaree: The Smugglers Web” has been released on Netflix. It stars Emraan Hashmi and is made by Neeraj Pandey. Neeraj Pandey himself is a big reason to watch this series. He has earlier made great works like A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Special Ops, and the Khakee series. The direction he gives in such content is outstanding. So, how is this series made under his direction? Let’s talk about it.
There are seven episodes, each between 35 to 50 minutes. They are not too long and not too short. The best thing is that once you finish one episode, you will not be able to stop yourself from watching the next one. I am saying this seriously. You will feel like watching the next episode immediately. The reason is that every episode is very engaging and ends with a cliffhanger that pushes you to continue watching.
Talking about the story, there are some honest customs officers who are posted at the airport to completely stop smuggling. The smuggling syndicate is run by Chaudhary, played by Sharad Kelkar. What happens next in the series, you should watch and find out for yourself. But honestly, if you want to learn how to make an engaging series, you should take lessons from Neeraj Pandey.
There was not even one second when I felt bored. There are many characters in the series, and sometimes the episode ends just while introducing them. But even these introductions are done in such a way that you stay connected with the character, and they slowly settle in your mind. Some characters are shown so strongly that a clear image of them gets printed in your head.
Yes, in some places you can guess what might happen next, but when it comes to characters, the storyline is quite unpredictable. Turning a simple storyline into something so engaging is a very creative job, and this job is clearly and smartly done by Neeraj Pandey.
However, to be honest, I am a bit disappointed with the way the climax is presented; it is very simple and seems like it has been completed in a hurry. I was expecting it in a bit grand way since you have shown a huge image of villan hence it should be something grand.
The actors have done a great job. Emraan Hashmi looks good as usual in his role. The other actors are also very strong. I felt that Sharad Kelkar should have been given a little more screen time or shown in a more villain-like way. But it is okay, it is not bad.
There is not a single song in the entire series. There are no vulgar scenes at all. Yes, there are one or two small swear words, but it can easily be watched with family. The topic of smuggling is not new. But if you have watched Money Heist, you will notice that the robbers were shown as heroes there. Here, it is the opposite. The real heroes, who are protecting the country from fraud, are shown as heroes. That is commendable.
The way gold smuggling and the syndicate are shown, and the different methods used to smuggle gold, are explained in detail. Honestly, it feels like a tuition class on how smuggling is done. I am saying this seriously. Still, if I look at it overall, the series is engaging. The topic feels fresh, and the presentation is very good. The actors have done excellent work. There is no time wasted and nothing over-dramatic.
Strengths and Flaws:
Strength
- Very engaging episodes with strong cliffhangers.
- Excellent direction by Neeraj Pandey.
- No songs or forced drama.
- Family-friendly content.
- Honest officers are shown as real heroes.
- Strong performances by the cast.
Flaws
- Dialogues are okay, not excellent.
- Very little screen time is given to Sharad Kelkar, as he is shown to be so powerful in the series; he deserves more screen time.
- BGM is also not excellent as it has always been in Neeraj Pandey’s projects.
- A few things are illogical and undigestible, will not reveal those as it will be a spoiler.
- I am disappointed with the climax. The closure of the main villain is made very simple, disappointing for me.
Final Verdict
Taskaree, The Smugglers Web is a gripping and well-made crime series. It turns a simple idea into an exciting watch through strong direction, good acting, and smart writing. It respects the audience’s time and intelligence. A solid watch for anyone who enjoys crime dramas with realism.
