Aghori Muzik Announces Global Tour With Welcome To Gujarat

After A Decade of Success, The Band Aims To Take Gujarat’s Culture Worldwide With Folk, rap beats, and modern global music trends.

For years, Gujarat’s cultural identity on the global stage has largely been linked to business, entrepreneurship, Garba and its rich traditions. Music, especially modern urban music, has rarely been part of that conversation. Aghori Muzik now wants to change that narrative.

As the Ahmedabad-based music collective marks ten years in the industry, it is preparing to launch what it describes as its most ambitious project yet, Welcome To Gujarat. The album, coupled with the group’s first major world tour, represents more than just a new musical release. It signals a growing confidence among regional artists who believe local languages and cultures can find space in the global music market without losing their identity.

Over the past decade, India’s music landscape has undergone a major transformation. The rise of streaming platforms has reduced the dominance of traditional film music and opened doors for independent artists. Regional languages have benefited the most from this shift. Punjabi music has become a global commercial force, while artists working in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi have built dedicated audiences across continents. Gujarati music, however, has often remained confined to festive seasons and traditional formats.

That is where Aghori Muzik has carved its own path.

Since its formation in 2016, the group has produced more than 100 original tracks and built a strong following among younger listeners. Its core members, Kruz, K. Deep, and Hard-D, have become recognised faces in Gujarat’s urban music scene. What makes their journey notable is that much of their work has remained independent. Writing, composing, recording and visual production have largely been handled within the team itself, reflecting a do-it-yourself culture that has become common among successful independent artists worldwide.

The group’s rise also mirrors the growing acceptance of hip-hop in India. Once considered a niche genre, rap music has evolved into one of the country’s most influential youth movements. The success of independent rappers and the popularity of hip-hop-based films and digital content have helped audiences embrace local-language rap. Gujarati hip-hop, though smaller in scale, has steadily benefited from this wider movement.

Aghori Muzik’s biggest contribution may be its effort to connect modern rap with Gujarat’s cultural roots. While many artists draw inspiration from Western hip-hop, the group has consistently woven local traditions into its music. Garba rhythms, folk stories, devotional themes and regional dialects frequently appear in its songs. This blend has helped create a distinct identity that separates the group from mainstream urban music acts.

That approach is expected to reach a larger audience through Welcome To Gujarat, a 14-track album designed as a musical journey across the state. The project explores different aspects of Gujarat’s culture, heritage and folklore through songs such as Hun (Lion’s Roar), Charan Kanya, Na Chhandya Hathiyar, Kutch – Chandni Ni Chadar, Sathe Krishn, To Sheno Prashn?, Garba Gheli and Something Tribal.

The album’s concept arrives at a time when audiences across the world are showing greater interest in music rooted in local culture. Global hits increasingly emerge from artists who celebrate their own language, traditions and communities rather than imitate international trends. The worldwide success of Afrobeats from Africa, Latin music from South America and Korean pop demonstrates that regional stories can resonate far beyond their place of origin.

In many ways, Welcome To Gujarat appears to follow a similar philosophy. Instead of presenting Gujarati culture as a museum piece, the album attempts to place it within a modern global soundscape. Folk influences from Kutch, spiritual references from Dwarka and tribal musical traditions are combined with contemporary hip-hop production, creating a format that aims to speak to both local listeners and international audiences.

The timing is also significant. Large Gujarati communities now live across North America, Europe, Australia and parts of Africa. These communities have long supported cultural events, traditional music performances and Garba festivals. Yet there has been relatively little modern Gujarati music created specifically for younger generations growing up outside India. Aghori Muzik’s planned world tour appears designed to address that gap.

According to the group’s Creative Head, Devarsh Kothari, the album is the result of months of research and experimentation. His comments suggest that the team views the project not simply as an entertainment product but as an effort to reimagine how Gujarati culture can be presented to a global audience.

Whether Welcome To Gujarat becomes a commercial success remains to be seen. Yet its larger significance may lie elsewhere. It reflects a growing belief among regional artists that success no longer requires abandoning local identity. Instead, culture itself can become the strongest point of connection with audiences around the world.

For Gujarati music, that shift could prove important. For Aghori Muzik, it may represent the beginning of its most ambitious chapter yet.
