Gangubai Kathiawadi opened to positive reviews last Friday, with critics applauding the film’s scope, directing, and performances, especially Alia Bhatt’s. Alia plays a character in the film who is based on real-life sex worker Gangubai, who grew to become a mafia queen in Mumbai. Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari, Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raaz, and Jim Sarbh also star in the film, which is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
The picture had a strong opening weekend, making 39 crores on Sunday before adding another 8 crores on Monday. It was a fantastic Monday hold, according to trade analysts, and the film is expected to have a nice week ahead.
