On 28 November, Shri Sankatmochan Mahavir Hanuman Neem Karoli Baba Temple in Rancharda, Ahmedabad, will hold a full-day celebration to mark the 125th Prakatotsav (appearance day) of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj. The temple, founded with the blessings of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, has planned a day filled with devotional, social and community-based activities. Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj is one of the most loved spiritual saints of modern India, and his teachings on love, service and simplicity have inspired millions across the world. His ashrams in Kainchi Dham, Vrindavan and other places attract a large number of devotees every year, especially during important dates linked with his life.
The celebrations will begin in the morning with around 300 school students reciting the Hanuman Chalisa together. Group recitations like this often create a sense of unity and devotion among young children and help them understand the value of India’s spiritual traditions. After this, the temple will distribute gifts and chocolates to younger children. Temples in many parts of India follow the practice of sharing sweets and small gifts on holy days as a gesture of joy and blessings.
Throughout the day, the “Ram Roti Seva Rath” will serve meals to people in need. Food service, also known as ‘annadaan’, is one of the most respected forms of sewa in Indian culture. Many temples and ashrams run daily food service programmes to ensure that no visitor or needy person goes hungry. At this temple too, the seva rath has become a trusted source of support for many people in the local area.
At 7:00 pm, the temple will organise a blanket distribution programme for poor and underprivileged people. During the winter months, religious organisations often distribute blankets and warm clothing to protect vulnerable groups from the cold. The temple will also hold 21 recitations of the Hanuman Chalisa, along with kirtan. This will be followed by “Baba Ka Bhandara,” where all devotees will be served prasad in the form of a meal. Bhandaras are a key part of Indian spiritual gatherings and create a sense of equality, as everyone sits together and eats the same food.
According to temple founder Dr Praveen Garg, the entire day’s programme is open to all devotees. He has invited everyone to join and receive blessings on this sacred occasion. Dr Garg said that this celebration is not only a religious event but also a way to spread the message of service. Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj himself taught that serving others is equal to serving God, and many of his followers continue to spread this message.
Dr Praveenbhai Garg also shared that this temple is the fourth in India to have a reclining (resting) idol of Hanumanji. Reclining idols are rare and often hold special spiritual significance, symbolising deep peace and protection. Devotees visiting this temple often describe experiencing calmness and a strong sense of grace.
The temple was recently completed 15 months ago on 23 November 2025. During this time, Sundarkand has been recited 65 times. These repeated recitations show the steady devotion of the community. Festivals such as Hanuman Jayanti, Guru Purnima, Navratri, Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Sthapana and Visarjan, Kali Chaudas Havan and Dussehra have all been celebrated with bhajans, worship and community programmes. Many temples in Gujarat and across India follow a similar tradition of year-round celebration to keep people connected with faith.
With Baba’s grace, two Ram Roti Seva Rath vehicles operate daily from the temple. They prepare meals for 200–300 people every morning and evening and distribute prasad at different locations. The temple also places special focus on elderly persons, differently-abled children and visually impaired children. These groups are invited to take part in Sundarkand and Hanuman Chalisa recitations, making the temple a welcoming space for everyone.
Special arrangements are made for senior citizens. The temple also holds Akhand Hanuman Chalisa and Ramcharitmanas recitations on special days. A Havan is organised on the first Tuesday of every month, open to all devotees. Every Sunday, Sundarkand, kirtan and aarti are performed, attracting many regular visitors.
The temple also offers free health check-ups every Wednesday and Sunday, along with free medicines. This kind of community health support is very important, especially for those who cannot afford private care. The temple provides accommodation for sadhus and saints and has a cold-water stall for travellers and passers-by.

Among the temple’s regular supporters, Shri Kiritbhai Patel is known for his selfless service. Along with him, Bharatbhai Joshi, Rahul Barot, Niravbhai Patel and Rushabhbhai Shah also offer committed seva at this sacred place.
