Chor No. 1: Rakesh Shah Directs a New Gujarati Comedy-Drama

Gujarati Film ‘Chor No. 1’ Set for Cinema Release on 23 October

Gujarati comedy-drama follows three employees who plan a night-time burglary after a mistake by their company manager

Gujarati cinema will see the release of Chor No. 1 on Friday, 23 October 2026. Presented by EForU Entertainment, the comedy-drama follows three employees who plan a burglary after a mistake by their company manager leaves them seeking revenge. The story brings together workplace conflict, crime and comedy, with a series of misunderstandings forming the main part of the plot.

Written and directed by Rakesh Shah, the film stars Shrey Maradiya, Rishi Jani, Parth Modi, Aanchal Shah and Archan Trivedi in lead roles. Prashant Modi, Amit Vedawala and Pinky Vedawala have produced the film under the guidance of Nilesh Modi.

The film is scheduled to open in cinemas across India on 23 October. Its trailer has been released on YouTube, giving viewers an early look at the characters and the story.

The plot centres on three employees who fall victim to a mistake made by their company manager. Their response sets the story in motion: they decide to carry out a burglary in a single night as an act of revenge.

The plan leads to a chain of comic situations and misunderstandings. The story uses the employees’ attempt to settle a workplace dispute as the starting point for a crime-based comedy. How the plan unfolds, and what happens when events take an unexpected turn, form the main questions for audiences.

The Chor No. 1 film’s premise places ordinary working life at the centre of its humour. The manager’s mistake provides the reason for the employees’ actions, while the planned burglary creates the conditions for confusion and conflict. The story combines elements of comedy and drama, with the consequences of the employees’ decision driving the action.

The supplied film announcement does not give further details about the characters, the nature of the manager’s mistake or the outcome of the burglary plan. Those parts of the story remain for audiences to discover in the film.

Shrey Maradiya, Rishi Jani and Parth Modi appear alongside Aanchal Shah and Archan Trivedi in the lead cast. Rakesh Shah has handled both the writing and direction, giving him responsibility for the film’s script and its presentation on screen.

The production team includes Prashant Modi, Amit Vedawala and Pinky Vedawala, with Nilesh Modi providing guidance. EForU Entertainment is presenting the project.

The Chor No. 1 film’s success will depend in part on how well its cast delivers the comedy and handles the shifts between humour and drama. Stories built around misunderstandings often require clear timing and convincing reactions from the actors, since one character’s actions can create trouble for the others.

The release also adds another Gujarati-language title to the cinema calendar for October. Viewers will be able to judge the film’s treatment of its workplace dispute, the burglary plan and the resulting comic situations once it reaches theatres.

The Chor No. 1 film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Nasir Khan and music director Maulik Mehta. Kiran Parihar has written the songs, which are sung by Umesh Barot, Meet Mehta and Maulik Mehta. Kapil Sahetya has written the dialogues, while Aayan Makwana has composed the background score.

Music and dialogue have a key role in a comedy built around a plan that begins to go wrong. The songs add a musical element to the film, while the background score supports scenes as the characters deal with the results of their decisions. The dialogue will also be central to the humour, particularly where misunderstandings arise between the three employees and the people around them.

The production details released so far identify the main cast and creative team, although no information has been provided about the film’s production budget or shooting locations.

The release comes after a strong year for Gujarati cinema in 2025. According to Ormax Media’s annual box-office report, Gujarati films earned a combined gross of ₹242 crore in 2025, compared with ₹84 crore in 2024. This represented growth of 189 per cent.

A major part of that rise came from Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate, which collected about ₹114 crore in India and became the highest-grossing Gujarati film at the time, according to the report. Its performance helped draw wider attention to the commercial reach of films made in the language.

The figures offer a useful background for the release of Chor No. 1, though they do not predict how the new film will perform. Box-office results depend on several factors, including audience response, ticket sales, competition from other releases and how long a film stays in cinemas.

Comedy has a familiar place in Indian cinema, but each film must find its own audience. For Chor No. 1, the workplace setting and the attempted burglary give viewers a clear starting point. Its reception will depend on the writing, performances and the way the plot develops on screen.

The trailer has already introduced the film to online viewers ahead of its cinema release. The full film is scheduled to arrive on Friday, 23 October 2026, with a planned release across India.

EForU Entertainment is presenting the film as a family-oriented comedy-drama. Its central idea rests on a mistake at work that leads three employees towards a risky decision, setting up the comic problems that follow.

Whether the film can draw audiences will become clearer after its release. For now, Chor No. 1 enters the October cinema schedule with a cast led by Shrey Maradiya, Rishi Jani, Parth Modi, Aanchal Shah and Archan Trivedi, and a story built around revenge, theft and the confusion caused by a plan that may not go as intended.
