For the years 2022–2023, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has made international retainer contracts available to both men and women. Men’s cricket newcomers to this list include Jayden Seales, Obed McCoy, and Odean Smith.

“In contrast to past years, when player contracts were limited to red or white-ball cricket, the CWI has modified the Men’s Retainer Contract Structure to give player contracts across all cricket formats for 2022–23. Following an evaluation period of performances from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022, which is also supported by data from the prior 2019 – 2020 evaluation period, retainer contracts are offered to all players. This gives all players the opportunity to be evaluated right away following the Evaluation Time and gives new contracts a notice period before they begin on July 1, 2022. The system is set up to honour effort and performance outcomes “Tuesday, June 28th, a statement from CWI was released.

West Indies Men: Jermaine Blackwood, Nkrumah Bonner, Kraigg Brathwaite, Joshua Da Silva, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Obed McCoy, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Hayden Walsh Jr.

“Congratulations to every player who has received a contract offer. We believe that this is a vibrant group that accurately represents the Caribbean people by balancing experience and youth. We now have a pool of quality and committed cricketers thanks to general retainer contracts, who can advance West Indies cricket in the years to come “Desmond Haynes, the men’s lead selector stated.

Contracts have also been made available to 18 female players, six of whom are on development contracts.

Women from the West Indies include Deandra Dottin, Chinelle Henry, Afy Fletcher, Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Shamilia Connell, Karishma Ramharack, Shakera Selman, Stafanie Taylor, and Hayley Matthews.

Kaysia Shultz, Rashada Williams, Jannillea Glasgow, Shabika Gajnabi, Cherry Ann Fraser, and Mandy Mangru have development contracts.

“The young, growing players have received a lot of attention from the selectors since they are the ones who will contribute to the team’s development as we move to the future. As we continue to train teams for international competitions and the T20 World Cup early in the next year, the panel is confident that the blend of experienced players and young players will provide a strong foundation “Ann Browne-John, the women’s lead selector, said.
