Yet Again, Early Exit of Germany From FIFA 2026. Paraguay Celebrates Historic World Cup Win
Huge FIFA 2026 World Cup Shock! Paraguay Knock Out Four-Time Champions Germany After Dramatic Match
A massive upset has taken place in the Round of 32 match at the FIFA World Cup. Paraguay have knocked Germany out of the tournament after a thrilling penalty shootout.
Today belongs to Paraguay in FIFA 2026 World Cup history. After 120 minutes of tough football and a tense penalty shootout, Paraguay shocked the world by beating four-time champions Germany 4-3. The match had ended 1-1 after normal and extra time. This is the first time ever that Germany has lost a penalty shootout in World Cup history, while Paraguay celebrated the greatest night in their football history.
Injured Enciso Gives Paraguay Hope
Germany tried to dominate the game early on, but Paraguay stayed strong. Julio Enciso, a 22-year-old forward who was badly injured in a warm-up match, did not let his pain stop him. In the 42nd minute, Mathías Galarza crossed the ball perfectly, and Enciso headed it past famous goalkeeper Manuel Neuer into the net. This goal put Paraguay 1-0 ahead. However, Enciso later had to leave the pitch because of his injury. Germany then fought back hard to make the score 1-1.
Germany’s Goal Cancelled out
The match became very dramatic in the 102nd minute of extra time. Germany’s Jonathan Tah headed the ball into the net from a corner kick by Nathaniel Brown. The German team started celebrating, but the referee, Jalal Jayed, checked the VAR screen. The replay showed that just before the goal, Germany’s Waldemar Anton had fouled Paraguay’s goalkeeper, Orlando Gill, inside the six-yard box. The goal was cancelled, giving Paraguay a second chance. Germany attacked again through Havertz and Goretzka, but they could not break through Paraguay’s defence.
Orlando Gill Shines in the Shootout
When the match went to a penalty shootout, it was a battle between two goalkeepers—the legendary Manuel Neuer and 25-year-old Orlando Gill. Gill showed great quickness to save penalties from Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade, putting Germany under pressure. Neuer saved a shot from Fabián Balbuena to keep Germany’s hopes alive, but Jonathan Tah could not handle the pressure in the sixth round. His shot flew over the crossbar. Right after that, Paraguay’s José Canale made no mistake and scored the winning penalty to send his team into the Round of 16.
