Orange Team of GCRI and Indradhanush Abhiyan Join Hands for Cancer Awareness Day
In a heartwarming initiative, the Community Oncology Centre at GCRI (Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute) marked “Cancer Awareness Day” in a special way. Dr. Gitaben Joshi, spearheading the Community Oncology Center, organized entertainment programs tailored for cancer patients. Nursing students contributed to the cause with an exhibition showcasing cancer awareness posters, and an elocution competition on the subject added an interactive element. The event welcomed prominent individuals like Mrs. Ila Gohil, Mrs. Meghna Ojha, and Mrs. Femina Shah from Team Oranges of Indradhanush Abhiyan, gearing up for the upcoming International Women’s Day.
A Day of Joy and Awareness
Cancer patients, under the care of this center, experienced a day of joy as special entertainment programs were curated to lift their spirits. These ladies actively participated in the day’s events, showing their support for the cause of cancer awareness.
Free Treatment for Cancer Patients
One of the standout features of the Community Oncology Centre at GCRI is its commitment to providing free treatment for cancer patients. In addition to medical care, the centre extends its support to the relatives of the patients through counselling services. The holistic approach ensures that the impact of cancer on individuals and their families goes beyond medical treatment, addressing emotional and psychological aspects as well.
Upcoming “Walkathon” for Awareness
Taking their commitment to awareness a step further, the Community Oncology Centre, in collaboration with Sanjeevni NGO, has organized a “Walkathon” scheduled for February 11. This event aims to bring together a large number of people, fostering a sense of community while working towards spreading awareness about cancer. The Walkathon signifies a collective effort to make a positive impact and educate the public about the importance of early detection and preventive measures.
