MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, may have lost yet another IPL match in 2022, but he did become only the second cricketer in history to participate in 350 T20 matches. Dhoni joins Mumbai Indians and Team India captain, Rohit Sharma, in reaching this illustrious milestone, with Sharma having played in 372 T20 matches to date.

Dhoni will not lead CSK in the IPL 2022 season for the first time in the league’s history. Dhoni has led CSK to four IPL titles, making him the second most successful captain in league history. Only Rohit (5) has led his team to most IPL titles as captain.

Indian players with most T20 appearances:

Rohit Sharma – 372

MS Dhoni – 350

Only 98 of Dhoni’s 350 T20s have made it to the international scene for Team India. In 2007, the wicket-keeper batter helped India to victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Dhoni is playing in his 217th game for CSK. He has also represented the Rising Pune Super Giants in 30 matches. He’s also appeared in a couple of short-format games for his home state of Jharkhand.

At the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, Punjab Kings trounced defending champions CSK by 54 runs, with Liam Livingstone striking a fifty (April 3). Despite the fact that the dew has been an issue for all teams bowling second in this edition of the IPL, especially in the matches being played here, the Punjab Kings’ bowlers put up a fantastic effort to shock CSK early on and retain their stranglehold despite Shivam Dube’s half-century.

“We got to a target that we thought could be defended, and the seam bowlers set it up for us.” We wanted to be as bold and interesting as possible. It was nice to get a few today, but as I said, the seamers set it up in the powerplay,” said Livingstone, who helped Punjab Kings rebound from 16/2 to 180/8 in 20 overs.

Livingstone was overjoyed to be able to contribute with the bat after scoring so few runs in the first two games. “It’s wonderful to contribute to a win since the first two games didn’t go my way.” The seam bowlers set up a target for us that we thought was defendable. I’ve been swinging hard lately, and it feels great to get it off the middle today. I like to play things my way, and Rajasthan was no exception. This, perhaps, will instill some confidence.”
