Kosol Signs Big Renewable Energy Investment in Gujarat
Newzdaddy Business Updates
In a landmark step towards shaping India’s clean energy future, Kosol Energie Pvt. Ltd., led by its Chairman & Managing Director, Mr Kalpesh Kalathia, has signed a monumental ₹52,000 Crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) held at Mehsana.
Kosol Energie has already made a name in the renewable sector with over 2.5 GWp solar power installations across India. This new renewable energy investment shows the company’s intent to scale even bigger. Gujarat has been hosting the Vibrant Gujarat events since 2003 to bring investors, government, and businesses together. The regional version of the summit focuses on state-level development opportunities, especially in fast-growing sectors like renewable energy. The signing took place in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, and Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav (Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & IT) & Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi (Ministry of New & Renewable Energy).
The presence of these top leaders highlights the seriousness of this renewable energy investment. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel has been vocal about making Gujarat a hub for green growth. Ashwini Vaishnav’s ministries are key for green hydrogen infrastructure, smart grid upgrades, and digital integration. Pralhad Joshi’s ministry focuses on scaling renewable energy capacity nationwide. Their involvement shows strong state–centred coordination, which is crucial for such large projects to succeed.
This historic collaboration reaffirms Kosol Energie’s commitment to accelerating India’s renewable energy transition through the Make in India thrust by focusing on Solar, Green Hydrogen, and Green Ammonia as key enablers of sustainable growth. Solar power is now the cheapest source of energy in India, and Gujarat has one of the highest solar radiation levels in the country. Green hydrogen is being developed as a clean fuel to cut emissions in steel, fertilisers, and transport. Green ammonia is vital for storing and transporting hydrogen over long distances. India launched its National Green Hydrogen Mission in 2023 to make the country a global hub. This MoU fits perfectly into that vision of boosting local manufacturing while attracting renewable energy investment. The planned investments will encompass state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, advanced R&D centres, large-scale renewable energy parks, and integrated futuristic developments, positioning Gujarat as the epicentre of India’s clean energy transformation.
Gujarat is already home to Asia’s biggest hybrid renewable energy park in Kutch, covering over 72,000 hectares. The state has strong transmission networks and ports, which help export green products. Setting up local manufacturing will reduce import dependence on solar modules and hydrogen equipment, while R&D centres will allow Indian engineers to develop homegrown technologies. This level of renewable energy investment strengthens both infrastructure and knowledge. Beyond technological advancement, this initiative is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, stimulate local economies, and attract global collaborations in renewable infrastructure and innovation.
Such large investments typically create jobs in installation, manufacturing, logistics, and research. It also attracts international partners looking to co-develop or fund clean energy projects. This renewable energy investment can boost the local economy by bringing more industries to Gujarat, improving infrastructure, and increasing exports of clean technologies.
Kosol’s state-of-the-art and fully automated world-class solar module manufacturing facility, along with its installation base of over 2.5 GWp solar PV generation plants across India, reinforces its belief in the ever-growing renewable energy sector of India. Kosol Energie remains dedicated to driving India’s sustainable future by fostering innovation, strengthening local manufacturing, and building integrated renewable ecosystems that empower communities and industries alike. At Kosol, we believe renewable energy is more than technology; it’s a movement toward energy independence, economic growth, and environmental responsibility. Through our investments in solar, green hydrogen, and green ammonia, we aim to make Gujarat a global benchmark for clean energy leadership and envision a future where sustainable power fuels every home, every business, and every dream of a Viksit Bharat.”
Kosol Energie is part of the Kalthia Group, which has a history in infrastructure development. Their solar module manufacturing unit is fully automated, using advanced robotic systems, which increases efficiency and reduces production costs. Awards and recognitions from industry bodies underline their growing leadership. With this renewable energy investment, Kosol plans to set an example for how private companies can lead in India’s clean transition.
This strategic partnership marks a defining moment in India’s journey toward energy independence and Viksit Bharat @ 2047, further strengthening the nation’s leadership in global green energy initiatives. India aims to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2070. Gujarat plays a central role in these plans because of its large renewable energy potential and strong industrial base. This renewable energy investment not only supports national goals but also helps Gujarat become a global clean energy hub.
