Navam Utsav Brings Navratri Fasting Menu To ITC Narmada

ITC Narmada Sets Navratri Table With a 10-Day Fasting Menu in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is preparing for the start of Sharad Navratri, and ITC Narmada has announced a 10-day food offering for people observing the festival and those looking for vrat-style meals.

ITC Narmada will serve its Navam Utsav menu from October 10 to October 19, 2026, at Adalaj Pavilion, its all-day dining restaurant. The menu will be available from 11 am to 9 pm. Gu

Guests can also order through the Club ITC App, Swiggy and Zomato.

Sharad Navratri begins on October 11 this year, according to the Hindu calendar. The first lunar tithi starts on the evening of October 10, which explains why the hotel has chosen October 10 as the starting date for its food offering.

Navratri food has a clear place in Indian household cooking. People who keep fasts often leave out grains, onion and garlic and use ingredients such as sabudana, kuttu, rajgira, singhara and sendha namak. The exact rules can differ between families and regions.

The menu at ITC Narmada follows this familiar pattern. It does not use onion or garlic and uses sendha namak, also known as rock salt.

Among the dishes listed are Sabudana Khichdi, Sabudana Vada, Kuttu Paneer Pakoda, Rajgira Poori, Kuttu Paratha, Paneer Curry and Khatta Meetha Kaddu. A Navratri Special Thali will bring several of these dishes together in one meal. It will also include Sabudana Kheer and Khopra Pak as sweet dishes.

For Ahmedabad, where Navratri is closely linked with garba, fasting and community gatherings, the timing of the menu is relevant to the city’s food trade as well as to diners. The festival is one of the busiest periods of the year for restaurants, caterers and food outlets, with demand rising for meals that follow vrat food rules.

Several ingredients in the menu are already widely associated with fasting food. Sabudana is commonly used for khichdi and vada, while kuttu flour is used for rotis, parathas and puris. Rajgira, also called amaranth, is another common choice.

Food experts have also pointed out that the health value of a fasting meal depends on how it is cooked. Kuttu and rajgira can provide useful nutrients, while sabudana is mainly a source of carbohydrates and can be low in protein and fibre. Fried foods such as sabudana vada and pakodas can also add considerable oil to a meal. For people with diabetes or other dietary concerns, portion size and the full meal matter.

At ITC Narmada, Executive Chef Sumeet Rohela said the menu was planned around the food customs followed during the festival.

“Navratri is a time when food becomes an important part of the festive experience, with traditional recipes bringing together simplicity, nourishment and familiar flavours. With Navam Utsav, we have curated a selection of sattvik preparations that honour these traditions while bringing a thoughtful culinary touch to the menu. From sabudana and kuttu to rajgira and traditional festive sweets, the offering allows guests to enjoy the flavours of Navratri in a wholesome and comforting way,” said Mr Sumeet Rohela, Executive Chef, ITC Narmada.

ITC Narmada is part of ITC Hotels and operates as a Luxury Collection hotel in Ahmedabad. The property has positioned its design around Gujarat’s architectural and cultural references, including stepwell-inspired elements and toran-style features. ITC Hotels lists the property among its luxury hotels in India.

The Navam Utsav menu also forms part of a wider ITC Hotels Navratri food programme, with the hotel group offering festival-related food choices at its luxury properties.

For diners, the main point will be the menu itself. The 10-day window covers the main period of Sharad Navratri and continues through October 19, the ninth day of the festival in the 2026 calendar. Vijayadashami falls on October 20.

The Ahmedabad offering gives people who follow vrat food rules an option outside home cooking, while also bringing several familiar festival dishes into a hotel dining setting. For those who are not fasting, the menu offers a chance to try foods that form part of the eating habits associated with Navratri.

Navam Utsav will be available at Adalaj Pavilion, ITC Narmada, Ahmedabad, from October 10 to October 19, between 11 am and 9 pm. Orders will also be accepted through the Club ITC App, Swiggy and Zomato.
