The IPL 2022 mega auction has begun, with a total of 590 cricketers up for grabs when the ten clubs meet in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.

Not to mention that some players have already been retained or selected in the draught utilizing the funds available to them.

The overall number of matches played in the IPL will grow to 74 from 60 in 2022. That means the tournament will continue for a few more days.

There are two new teams this year: the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans. For the uninitiated, this year’s main sponsor will be TATA, not VIVO, and the IPL 2022 will be known as the TATA IPL from now on.

The BCCI has yet to announce the sites for the IPL 2020 season. However, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly confirmed in an interview with Sportstar that the tournament’s group league will be hosted in Maharashtra, in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. But, first and foremost, we have a major event in the mega auctions. Millions of people tune in to see which players are going where in the IPL auctions. This year’s auction is especially important because teams will be rebuilding, and it will be fascinating to watch.

Let us have a look at the new criteria and restrictions that the BCCI and the IPL governing council have laid forth for all ten teams before the major auctions.

– The auction for the IPL 2022 will be held in a bio-bubble.

– On February 9, 10, and 11, officials representing franchises must clear COVID-19 tests with a negative RT-PCR report. A BCCI-accredited medical agency will conduct the testing. –

The team will not be able to use the Right to Match (RTM) option in this auction.

– The original eight IPL clubs have been allowed to keep only three players, while the two new teams have been given three draught picks ahead of the auction. It means that at the auction, all of the teams will start with a blank slate.

– The budget for the IPL 2022 has been increased from Rs 80 crore to Rs 90 crore in order to accommodate more players, particularly from the domestic circuit.

– Participants who have returned to India within the last 15 days after an overseas vacation will be subjected to a seven-day obligatory quarantine and must test negative on Days 8 and 9. (twice).

– On February 11, BCCI will keep a tight eye on individuals coming to the team hotel. They’ll be watched for signs of COVID-19.

– Testing will take place between the hours of 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. to ensure a smooth run of the IPL 2022 auction on February 12 and 13. The members will remain in their rooms until the virus has been ruled out.

– All attendees must provide the BCCI medical staff with all pertinent information, including COVID vaccination results (if any).

– At the auction, all participants will be required to wear masks in the auditorium.
