Nominations Open for 2023 Helen Keller Awards Celebrating Disability Employment

New Delhi: The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) and LTIMindtree, a technology company, are looking for nominations for the Helen Keller Awards 2023. These awards are given to people and groups who work hard to create jobs for disabled people in India.

You can nominate someone for these awards until October 20, 2023. The Helen Keller Awards want to honor individuals, groups, and entrepreneurs who are doing great work to help disabled people find jobs and become leaders.

These awards started in 1999 because a survey found that very few disabled people had jobs in India. Since then, these awards have been celebrating the achievements of those who help disabled people get work.

Arman Ali, who works at NCPEDP, says these awards are important because the COVID-19 pandemic has made it even harder for disabled people to find jobs. He says that by making changes to workplaces, companies can give disabled people a fair chance to work and succeed.

“LTIMindtree is happy to work with NCPEDP to give awards to people and groups who help disabled people get jobs in India. We want to create a society where everyone gets a fair chance to work,” said Paneesh Rao, who works at LTIMindtree.

The Helen Keller Awards have different categories:

Category A: People with Disabilities who are role models. Category B: People who support disabled people to find jobs. Category C: Companies, NGOs, and institutions that help disabled people get jobs. Entrepreneurs with Disabilities who run their businesses.
