India today lost the opportunity to win the Test Series against South African on their home turf.
India started very brightly by winning the first test on boxing day 26th December. This means the year 2021 was the brightest year in Indian Cricket. In 2021, India won the Border – Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia beating them in their home. After that India beat England in a Test series in their home. However, the 5th test match is still to be played against England as it was postponed.
After getting the victory in the first test against South Africa, all Indians were hoping that the South African fortress will also be conquered by the current Indian team led by Virat Kohli. However, today the dream of conquering South Africa was broken today.
Probable reasons for this series defeat:
- The failure of middle-order in the batting department, specifically Pujara and Rahane.
- Failing to give a good start by the opening batsman. KL Rahul and Agarwal could not provide a good opening stand for the rest of the two tests.
- Lost the sting of Mohamad Siraj due to his injury and not able to give his full potential in 2nd test and not playing in 3rd test.

- Jenson.
