West Indies Showcased Their Power-Hitting Prowess with 20 Maximums Against Ireland.
The West Indies defeated Ireland 256-5 and won the series thanks to Evin Lewis’ scorching 91.
In all, the West Indies blasted 20 sixes. Lewis hit eight maximums, and Hope and Keacy Carty, who was 49 not out from 22 deliveries, both hit four.
The Windies won a rain-soaked three-game series 1-0 on Sunday after amassing its second-highest Twenty20 international innings and defeating Ireland by 62 runs.
Following their dismissal at Bready Cricket Club, the Carrabians scored 256-5, driven by an opening partnership of 122 in 10.3 overs between captain Shai Hope (51 in 27) and Evin Lewis (91 runs in 44 balls).
Ireland’s response was 194–7. Before Ireland was reduced to 116-4 in 12 overs, Ross Adair (48 in 36) and Harry Tector (38 in 25) had raised the score to 114-1.
Rain forced the cancellation of the first and second games.
England defeated the West Indies 3-0 in the ODI and T20 series after the two teams drew a three-match ODI series 1-1 in Dublin in May.
Hope remarked, “It’s nice to bring something back to the Caribbean.”
A five-game T20 series will follow the Caribbean’s three-test series against Australia, which begins in Barbados on June 25. South Africa defeated Australia in the World Test Championship final in London over the weekend.
