Rashtriya Raksha University Hosts Global Defence Summit

Rashtriya Raksha University to Host Landmark Inaugural Roundtable Conference for Global Defence Attachés in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar, Gujarat—The first-ever Roundtable Conference for Defence Attachés will take place at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on March 16–17, 2026, at its main campus in Lavad, Gandhinagar. This historic occasion, which brings together defence attachés from many partner countries to promote bilateral relations and investigate cooperative security frameworks, is intended to function as a prime forum for high-level diplomatic and strategic discourse. RRU seeks to close the gap between academic research, policy development, and industry application within the global defence scene as a leading national security and police university.

In 2020, an Act of Parliament designated Rashtriya Raksha University—formerly known as Raksha Shakti University—as an Institution of National Importance. The institution was established to develop significant skills in policing, strategic studies, and internal security. It has developed into one of India’s major hubs for national security research and instruction over time. The university offers courses in intelligence, cyber security, forensic science, and counterterrorism to students from India and a number of other nations. The university is gradually increasing its global role in security education and policy discussions by organising international gatherings like this roundtable.

This two-day conference’s main goal is to enable a thorough exchange of ideas about India’s quickly developing defence production and export ecosystem. The Defence Exhibition, which will highlight state-of-the-art domestic innovations created by top Indian defence companies, is a key component of the event. The strength of the country’s contemporary industrial foundation and its ability to offer cutting-edge solutions for pressing global security issues are highlighted in this exhibition. RRU aims to strengthen India’s position as a dependable worldwide supplier of defence technology and education by working closely with defence attachés, who play a crucial role in developing strategic alliances.

India’s defence production has advanced significantly in recent years. The nation has encouraged indigenous businesses to design and manufacture military equipment under the government’s “Make in India” policy. Fighter planes, naval ships, missiles, surveillance systems, and armoured vehicles are just a few of the many defence platforms that India currently produces. To encourage production and innovation, the government has also established special defence corridors in areas like Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. By taking these actions, India has been able to export defence equipment to friendly nations and lessen its reliance on imports.

High-ranking officials and diplomatic representatives from about thirty nations will attend the two-day summit, giving the Indian defence sector a rare opportunity to demonstrate its expanding capabilities. The exhibition provides a first-hand view of the most recent developments in the domestic defence industry, with 40 specialised exhibitors confirmed. Aerospace and drones, ammunition, simulation systems, internal security, border security, health technology, anti-drone interceptors, and cybersecurity are just a few of the many industries that will be represented at the show. The paints and coatings business, which is essential to military hardware that is protective and stealthy, is also anticipated to play a significant role.

In military diplomacy, defence attachés are crucial. They are senior officers posted at embassies who help their countries build defence partnerships with other nations. They research military advancements in the host nation, exchange information, and encourage collaboration in technology, training, and joint drills. Defence attachés frequently assist in opening doors for defence trade and strategic cooperation between nations through gatherings and activities like this roundtable.

India’s drone and aerospace sectors have seen rapid growth in the last decade. Many Indian start-ups and defence firms are now building unmanned aerial vehicles used for surveillance, mapping, border monitoring, and disaster management. Anti-drone systems have also become an important area of research as countries work to protect sensitive sites from hostile drone attacks. Similarly, cybersecurity has become a major priority for modern militaries as warfare increasingly moves into the digital domain.

The conference acts as a vital platform for enterprises to showcase their latest innovations to both international representatives and the general community. By integrating academic research with industrial application, RRU continues to lead as India’s premier national security and police university. The event is expected to catalyse new export opportunities and strengthen bilateral defence ties through live demonstrations and technical briefings.

In recent years, India’s defence exports have increased significantly. Government statistics show that within the last ten years, the nation’s defence exports have more than doubled. Several allied countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe are currently receiving equipment built in India, including artillery systems, patrol boats, radars, protective gear, and surveillance technology. The administration has set a lofty goal to increase defence exports even more in the years to come.

Events like this roundtable conference are becoming increasingly important as nations look for reliable partners in defence technology and security cooperation. By bringing together diplomats, defence experts, industry leaders, and academic researchers in one place, Rashtriya Raksha University is creating a space where ideas, innovation, and diplomacy can work together. The conference in Gandhinagar is expected to strengthen India’s growing role in the global defence ecosystem while also highlighting Gujarat’s rising importance as a hub for security education and strategic dialogue.
