GSFC University Orientation Programme 2026 Begins in Vadodara

GSFC University Opens New Academic Year with Focus on Skills, Research and Industry Learning

GSFC University has begun its 2026 to 2027 academic session with an orientation programme welcoming new undergraduate and postgraduate students, along with their parents. The event introduced students to the University’s academic system, student support services, research opportunities and campus activities before the beginning of regular classes.

Senior university officials, faculty members and administrative staff attended the opening session, where students received an overview of the institution’s academic approach and expectations for the years ahead.

Addressing the gathering, GSFC University President Mr P. K. Taneja, IAS (Retd.), encouraged students to make full use of the opportunities available during their studies. He said, “Success is built on discipline, integrity, innovation, critical thinking, practical skills, and lifelong learning.” He also urged students to understand the University’s vision and leadership, maintain discipline, and participate in research projects, internships, industry engagements, and extracurricular activities throughout their academic journey.

Provost Dr G. R. Singha spoke about the University’s emphasis on outcome based education, multidisciplinary learning and collaboration with industry. He encouraged students to remain curious, accept new challenges and make use of the University’s laboratories, innovation facilities and practical learning opportunities.

The orientation programme also introduced students to academic regulations, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework, research opportunities, entrepreneurship initiatives, library services, student clubs, sports, cultural activities and career development support. Faculty members, student mentors and alumni interacted with the new batch, helping them understand campus life and academic expectations before classes begin.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks that reaffirmed the University’s aim of preparing graduates with professional knowledge, practical skills and a sense of responsibility.

The beginning of a new academic session comes at a time when higher education institutions across India are adapting their teaching methods to match changing industry needs. Universities are placing greater emphasis on practical learning, internships, research, innovation and multidisciplinary education following the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020.

The National Education Policy seeks to make higher education more flexible by allowing students to study across disciplines, develop practical skills and build stronger links with industry. It also encourages research, entrepreneurship, digital learning and greater collaboration between educational institutions and businesses. Universities across the country have been redesigning courses and introducing new teaching methods to meet these objectives.

Industry experts have repeatedly pointed to the need for graduates who possess both technical knowledge and workplace skills. Employers increasingly look for problem-solving ability, communication skills, teamwork, digital literacy and practical experience alongside academic qualifications. As a result, many universities have expanded internship programmes, industry projects and innovation centres to improve graduate employability.

GSFC University has steadily developed its academic offerings since its establishment in Vadodara under the Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited initiative. The institution offers programmes in engineering, science, pharmacy, management, computer applications, agriculture, biotechnology and other professional disciplines. It has also built partnerships with industries to provide students with practical exposure through internships, industrial visits and collaborative projects.

Industry-linked education has become an important part of higher education in Gujarat, which has a large manufacturing and chemical sector as well as growing pharmaceutical, engineering and information technology industries. Universities located in the state increasingly work with companies to align classroom learning with workplace requirements.

Research and innovation are also receiving greater attention across Indian universities. Government policies encourage institutions to establish innovation centres, incubation facilities and entrepreneurship programmes that help students convert ideas into commercially useful products and services. Such initiatives are intended to strengthen India’s knowledge economy while creating employment opportunities for young graduates.

Career guidance services have become another important feature of university campuses. Career development cells now assist students with internships, placement preparation, resume writing, interview skills and professional networking. Many institutions also involve alumni in mentoring programmes so that new students can better understand academic life and future career options.

Student clubs, cultural activities and sports remain an important part of university education. Education specialists often note that participation in such activities helps students develop leadership qualities, teamwork, confidence and time management skills that are valued by employers alongside academic achievement.

Orientation programmes have become a standard practice in higher education because they help students adjust to a new environment, understand institutional rules and become familiar with available academic and personal support services. Such programmes are particularly useful for first-year students who are moving from school to university or joining postgraduate education after completing undergraduate studies.

With the academic year now underway, GSFC University has begun classes for its latest batch while introducing students to the academic resources, research opportunities and practical learning experiences that will shape their education over the coming years.
