Udyam 2026 Fair Set for Gandhinagar From October 23 to 26

India Industrial Fair Udyam 2026 to be Held in Gandhinagar From October 23

The 15th India Industrial Fair, Udyam 2026, will be held at the Helipad Ground in Gandhinagar from 23 to 26 October 2026, with Laghu Udyog Bharati preparing to bring manufacturers, business owners and other members of the small-industry sector together at the event.

A Gujarat delegation of Laghu Udyog Bharati has met several Union ministers to invite them to the fair. The ministers named by the organisation are Piyush Goyal, C R Patil, Mansukh Mandaviya, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Giriraj Singh, Sarbananda Sonowal, G Kishan Reddy and Shobha Karandlaje. Current government records list Goyal as Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Patil as Minister for Jal Shakti, Mandaviya as Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, and Vaishnaw as Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology.

The delegation discussed preparations for Udyam 2026, along with opportunities for India’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and manufacturing businesses. The discussions also covered ways to connect Indian businesses with new markets and business contacts.

The fair is planned as a meeting place for manufacturers, traders, buyers and other business groups. The official event website says the 2026 edition is expected to have more than 1.5 lakh visitors, over 500 exhibitors and 50,000 square metres of trade space. The organisers also expect business activity worth more than ₹1,000 crore during the event. These figures are organisers’ estimates, rather than confirmed results.

The event comes at a time when MSMEs remain a major part of India’s economy. Government figures released in July 2025 said the sector accounted for 30.1% of India’s GDP, 35.4% of manufacturing and 45.73% of exports. The same government release said more than 3.8 crore MSME units were registered on the Udyam portal at that time.

The export role of these businesses has also grown in recent years. Government data shows that the share of MSME-related products in India’s exports rose from 43.59% in 2022-23 to 45.73% in 2023-24. The figure stood at 45.79% in 2024-25, based on the data available in the government’s July 2024 update.

Gujarat has a large MSME base of its own. The Ministry of MSME’s RAMP portal says the state has more than 33.16 lakh operational MSME units. Gujarat has also received approval for projects worth ₹117.65 crore under the RAMP programme. The approved work includes mapping MSME clusters, strengthening district industry centres, improving export capacity and supporting Industry 4.0 changes in manufacturing.

The state’s industrial network covers a wide range of districts and sectors. Government records list industrial profiles for districts including Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Valsad, among others.

Gujarat has also been working on quality and production standards for smaller businesses. In 2025, the Ministry of MSME and the Quality Council of India held the Gunvatta Yatra in Odhav, Ahmedabad. The programme included industry groups, government officials and quality experts and promoted schemes and certifications such as ZED, ISO and LEAN among MSMEs.

Laghu Udyog Bharati has been active in India’s small-industry sector since 1994. The Ministry of MSME lists the organisation as an all-India association registered in 1994. In 2024, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research signed a memorandum with Laghu Udyog Bharati to help transfer selected CSIR technologies to micro and small businesses. CSIR said at the time that the organisation had a presence in more than 575 districts across 27 states, with more than 51,000 members.

The Gujarat organisation has also held earlier editions of the India Industrial Fair. The 2025 fair in Rajkot, held from 2 to 5 February, was organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati. Its event material listed more than 400 stalls, an expected visitor count of more than one lakh, and an exhibition area of 44,000 square metres. The fair included manufacturers, distributors, traders and dealers and offered B2B, B2C and B2G meeting opportunities.

The 2026 event will therefore take place on a larger planned scale in Gandhinagar. The organisers say it will include business meetings, investment discussions, seminars and opportunities related to dealerships and distribution. According to the event website, visitors will include businesses, individuals and students.

The Gujarat delegation that met the Union ministers included Laghu Udyog Bharati National Organisation Secretary Shri Prakashji Bhai Saheb, National President Shri Madhusudan Daduji, National General Secretary Shri Omprakash Guptaji, National Joint General Secretary Shri Nareshji Parikh, Gujarat Pradesh President Shri Ishwarbhai Patelji, Regional General Secretary Shri Ashok Patelji, Shri Baldevbhai Prajapati, Shri Vajubhai Vaghasia and Karnavati District President Shri Jaykalp Patelji.

For small manufacturers and suppliers, the main value of such an exhibition will depend on the business contacts and orders created during the four-day event. With MSMEs accounting for a large share of India’s output, manufacturing and exports, the fair also offers a view of the products and businesses competing for a larger share of India’s domestic and overseas markets.
