On Thursday, India’s veteran bowler Jhulan Goswami tied for the most wickets in the ICC Women’s World Cup. From 1982 to 1988, Goswami equaled the 39 wickets taken by Australia’s Lyn Fallston. In the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2022 in Hamilton, the 39-year-old accomplished this feat against New Zealand.

In the penultimate over of the innings against the White Ferns on Thursday (March 10), Goswami took the record-tying wicket. Katey Martin was knocked out by Goswami. With the wicket, Goswami surpassed Lynette Ann Fallston as the joint-highest wicket-taker in Women’s World Cup history, with 39 scalps.

She bowled a fantastic stint in India’s first match, returning 2/26 in India’s triumph over Pakistan. Goswami has 39 wickets to her name in five Women’s Cricket World Cups since 2005, spanning a career spanning two decades. Pooja Vastrakar took four wickets as India reduced New Zealand to 260/9 at Seddon Park during the ongoing ICC Women’s 50-over World Cup.

Amy Satterthwaite and Amelia Kerr both bowled 75 and 50 runs, respectively. Pooja Vastrakar took four wickets for Women in Blue and was involved in a key run-out, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad dismissed two players.
