In Ahmedabad, the Aarihant Homeopathic Medical College and Research Institute, linked with Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, took action for World Leprosy Day. They visited Tintoda village to educate people about leprosy on January 30. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about leprosy and its prevention.

Led by Principal Professor (Dr.) Amita V Peter supported by Dr. Rakesh K Sharma, Dr. Chintan Pandya, Dr. Jaya Srivastava, and Dr. Disha Shrotriya, 63 students participated in the event. Dr. Sharma and Dr. Srivastava, from the Department of Community Medicine, coordinated the visit.

The students set up a medical camp at the village’s community hall. They provided information about leprosy and its transmission to the villagers. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment.

Alongside the medical camp, students conducted a door-to-door awareness campaign with their faculty mentors. They educated villagers about general health, nutrition, and the significance of hygiene in preventing diseases like leprosy.

During the camp, attendees received free blood sugar tests to screen for diabetes, enhancing the scope of the health initiative.

The villagers actively engaged with the students, demonstrating a keen interest in learning about leprosy and maintaining their health.

The initiative not only provided medical assistance but also empowered the community with valuable knowledge to combat leprosy and other health challenges.
